Before the holiday, I went to do some early grocery shopping at Dongbu Market — and while there I visited a Dongbu Market favorite. Right as you walk into the market, you'll spot the cute yellow storefront of Daroa. They sell everything from baked goods to groceries, so let's take a look around!

When you go to a market, you want something tasty to eat, right? Daroa is packed with all kinds of food, so there's plenty to browse and eat for kids and adults alike.

Is the chicken at Daroa Dongbu Market Branch fried to order?

At Daroa Dongbu Market Branch, the chicken gets fried right when you order it. There's a chicken model out front that looks super appetizing. Daroa means chicken, right!!

They have Irouwn fried chicken, seasoned chicken, kadayif shrimp, and a shrimp-and-chicken combo too. I ordered one boneless fried chicken and took a look around inside.

Daroa's burger lineup is varied — cheese bulgogi, egg cheese bulgogi, crunchy corn, gochu mayo chicken, thick hamburg steak, kadayif whole shrimp, and even a nostalgic 'old-school salad' burger.

You can try many kinds of burgers at low prices. I had a hard time deciding what to get. In the end I ordered the basic cheese bulgogi burger! It tastes like the kind of burger my mom used to make at home when I was little. Kids love it, so it's a good meal choice for the whole family. You can also upgrade to a set for an extra ₩3,500.

10 breads for 10,000 won: the red bean cream bun was the pick

Daroa's bread gets cheaper the more you buy!! Ten pieces for ₩10,000! There's a big variety, so it's fun to pick. Sign up as a member for member pricing, and their group chat shares news on events and discounts.

Red bean bread, red bean cream bread, cream-stuffed bread, sweet potato paste bread, green pea paste bread — there are even photos showing what's inside, which was helpful for choosing. It's also great to buy ahead and eat for breakfast the next day. I tried the red bean cream bread — full of cream and delicious.

Grocery corner at Daroa: 1,000 won drinks to olive oil

There are drinks for sale on one side of the store too. My favorite Mogu Mogu drink was there! Only a thousand won — such a steal. From olive oil to all sorts of groceries, everything's available at low prices.

Boneless galbitang (short rib soup) ready meal at Dongbu Market

They also carry ready meals like boneless galbitang (short rib soup), chadol doenjang rice, bone haejangguk (hangover soup), beef seaweed soup with rice, and Sindaejang tteokbokki. Buy them ahead of time and you've got a quick meal at home! I picked up a galbitang myself. Meal solved, haha.

Snack shelves: mala konjac, chips and sorbet

There's a huge variety of snacks — mala-flavored konjac, chips, sorbet — so browsing alone is fun! Really, they cover everything from meals to snacks.

If I'd been heading straight home I would've wanted to grab a sorbet, but since I had more market browsing and errands to do, I decided to save it for next time. Watermelon, pineapple — these look completely real, don't they? A look you don't get anywhere else.

How the boneless Iroun chicken tasted back home

Ta-da~ By the time I finished browsing and shopping, my chicken order was all fried up! Here's the packed Daroa Irouwn chicken. Even the packaging brings back childhood nostalgia, haha. It comes out just like the chicken packaging my dad used to bring home, haha.

Packed paper box of Daroa's Irouwn chicken

The Irouwn chicken I ordered is boneless fried chicken. Crispy outside, juicy inside — it's amazing eaten piping hot. That savory chicken smell wafting through the air~ I took it home packed up, and my kid loved it. Delicious chicken to share with family.
