Jungnang chicken shop serving kadayif shrimp & chicken: Daroa

I'd already heard a lot about Daroa — good value and a new menu item, apparently — so my husband, the baby and I hopped in the car and made a special trip haha.

I was most curious about the new kkatarpi (crispy shredded pastry) item, so we set off half excited, half hungry to figure out what to order. The weather had cooled down too, so it was the perfect timing for a little drive.

Daroa Dongbu Market Branch sits inside Dongbu Market, so the yellow sign and interior caught our eye from a distance.

Being inside the market made it easy to find without wandering around! Once inside, they had soboreo bread, burgers, chicken, and even ready-to-cook foods.

Such a wide variety of breads on display too, it was fun just browsing.

Freshly fried chicken, easy-to-heat soups, and sherbet as well.

It's a small store but felt like it had everything you'd need, which was surprising haha.

The staff were friendly too, so ordering was a pleasant experience.

Where do you park at Daroa Dongbu Market Branch?

Sambo Bowling Center parking: 1,000 won per 20 minutes

Since Daroa Dongbu Market Branch sits right in the middle of the market, there's no dedicated parking lot. So we parked at Sambo Bowling Center, located in the alley facing the store.

It's ₩1,000 per 20 minutes, pretty affordable, so if you're driving, this is a good option to keep in mind!

What we ordered: the new kadayif chicken and two burgers

On the menu board at Daroa Dongbu Market Branch, I spotted a new kkatarpi item under the chicken section — shrimp and chicken both coated in crispy shredded pastry.

We didn't hesitate and went straight for the Irowun Kkatarpi Shrimp & Chicken,

plus the Thick Hamburg Patty and the Egg Cheese Bulgogi Burger — three items total.

Prices were reasonable enough that I wanted to order more, but these two dishes alone made for a satisfying meal ha. Side note: the smell filled the car the whole way home, which was rough..ㅜㅠ

Both burgers at Daroa Dongbu Market Branch were much thicker than expected.

Loaded with vegetables and a thick bun, it felt hearty and full. One bite in, the bulgogi sauce and cheese combined into that classic nostalgic taste.

My husband took a huge bite too — it was that generously sized! The kkatarpi shrimp & chicken had a crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture that the baby happily ate up.

Final verdict on Daroa Dongbu Market Branch

It was a casual stop, but we ended up with a surprisingly satisfying meal, which made it a great visit. Both the burgers and chicken went over well with no complaints, so if you're passing by Dongbu Market, I'd strongly recommend stopping in. If you're driving, remember the Sambo Bowling Center parking lot~!
