Jeju hangover soup breakfast at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, Hyeopjae Beach

In short

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi is a haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant right in front of Hyeopjae Beach in Hallim-eup, Jeju City. On an early morning visit we ordered one bowl of each: the clear Jeju Hyeopjae bomal haejangguk (top shell soup) and the red-broth hanwoo myeongpum naejangtang (premium beef tripe soup), comparing the light broth packed with top shells against the heavy ox-bone tripe soup. Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi is an easy, gentle-on-the-stomach breakfast bowl near Hyeopjae Beach.

Signature bowl of haejangguk at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi

A place to remember if you're starting your day around Hyeopjae in Jeju or craving a hearty broth to fix last night's drinking!! A local-recommended Jeju spot!

Where is Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi and where do you park?

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi sits right in front of Hyeopjae Beach!! Park at Hyeopjae Beach Parking Lot 2 and it's free!!

I was planning to swim starting from lunchtime at Hyeopjae, but early in the morning I suddenly craved something hot and deep, so I ate before hitting the Hyeopjae Starbucks haha.

The signboard already looks kind of hip lol. First impression: the whole place feels very clean and comfortable!!

Honestly, the bulgogi smell wafting from the door front was so tempting... suddenly I wanted black pork bulgogi too.....(you'll see when you go there!!)

There were already a lot of customers, but the tables were spaced generously and the place was clean — a great Hyeopjae spot to knock back a bowl!

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi menu: what to order together

The menu board had all sorts of options — from hanwoo deep sundae haejangguk to hanwoo myeongpum naejangtang, and Jeju's signature bepokjaengguk, abalone bukeoguk, abalone sundubu! We ordered the hanwoo myeongpum naejangtang and the Jeju Hyeopjae bepokjaengguk!

We wanted to taste both a spicy, rich broth and a clean, refreshing one at the same time, so we decided on one red broth and one clear broth!!

The side dishes came out looking neat too! The squid jeotgal was especially delicious lol. Feels like a perfect Hyeopjae spot for a simple, satisfying meal too~

How does the Jeju Hyeopjae bomal (top shell) haejangguk taste?

The Jeju Hyeopjae bepokjaengguk had a clean, refreshing, light broth flavor! From the earthenware bowl you could catch both the nutty aroma of the top shells and a faint hint of the sea haha.

There were really a lot of top shells in it, and the shrimp, chives, and cheongyang chili all matched the broth so well ㅠㅠ. This would really be refreshing eaten as a hangover cure!!

On the wall there was even info about the health benefits of sundae (blood sausage) — if you like sundae, ordering the sundae haejangguk could help with heavy metal detox and anemia prevention too!!

The top shells had a chewy texture and nuttiness with every bite!! A perfect Hyeopjae menu for soothing your stomach early in the morning, or for people who can't handle spicy food!!

The seasoning matched the rice so well that I just ate the broth and rice together without adding anything!

Hanwoo myeongpum naejangtang: ox-bone broth and chili dadaegi

Deep, rich hanwoo bone-broth naejangtang

The hanwoo myeongpum naejangtang arrived bubbling away in its earthenware bowl! They apparently simmer the bone broth themselves fresh every dawn — and sure enough, the first spoonful had a heavy, dense concentration!! Something felt different.

The amount of tripe in it was really generous too. No off smell at all, with a chewy yet tender texture!! My friend, who was trying naejangtang for the first time, said it was really delicious lol!! Definitely a Hyeopjae spot worth visiting~~

Naejangtang packed with generous tripe

Stir in the garlic they gave us and~ yep... this really is a top-notch haejangguk spot!!!

Garlic and dadagi served alongside the naejangtang

The dadagi (chili paste condiment) is the real kicker — once you stir it in, it turns nicely spicy and you just keep spooning the broth haha.

Naejangtang broth turned red after stirring in dadagi

The seasoning sauce and the hanwoo bone broth go so well together!! If you're looking for a Hyeopjae spot for pouring a bowl of rice into hot broth, you have to try this naejangtang broth!!!

The rice was fluffy and delicious too!! Pouring a full bowl of rice into the tripe soup and topping it with a piece of kimchi made all the travel fatigue melt away~
