Dark black tone-down at Hair Studio Baekga, a Yeongdeungpo salon

I finally got my awful delinquent-looking hair dyed a toned-down black 🥹🖤 Since I had to visit on a weekday, I looked for somewhere close to a station that I, a car-free girl, could get to after work—and found Hair Studio Baekga! It is only a 2–3 minute walk from Dangsan Station, so it was sooo easy to visit 🤩❤️

Hair Studio Baekga is a 2–3 minute walk from Dangsan Station ❤️ Being so close to the station makes it very accessible, and there is also a bus stop right in front of the salon, so it looks great for coming from around the neighborhood too :) Isn’t this a true Dangsan Station hair salon? 🤭🤭

Head up to the second floor and follow the hallway, and there is Baekga 👀

The interior was quite spacious, with lots of seats! The mirrors were all nice and big too, which was comfy! 👍🏻 The large windows made the place feel open, so I could get my treatment without feeling stuffy at all :)

Why I toned my lightened hair down to black

A photo of my old hair 🤣🤣 Wow... doesn’t it seriously look like crazy delinquent hair? 🥹 My hair was not in great condition, so even when I dyed it dark, the color eventually faded and it got light again 🥹 So this time, I decided to cover it completely in black‼️🖤 I figured once the baby arrives, I probably will not have the time—or occasion—to dye my hair, so I made up my mind and went black :) For reference, I visited at 17 weeks☺️

With VIP membership, you can get treatments at a lower price. Once the coloring started, the designer brought me a drink and snack :) There were about five drink options (?) too 👍🏻 Nice.

A quick coloring process, starting with scalp protection

Before starting the color, they carefully protected my scalp first. When I said I was pregnant, they asked how many weeks along I was and said they would keep the dye from touching my scalp as much as possible :)

As you can see in the photos, they really applied only a minimal amount of dye near my scalp 👍🏻 That did not mean they were any less thorough, though—they worked carefully into every corner, yet so quickly with practiced hands 👀

Pregnant people can be especially sensitive to chemical smells and environments, so apparently it is best to get your hair done as quickly as possible!

Shampoo and scalp massage

The shampoo area was divided into two sections, and the spot where I lay down was a single-seat space, so it felt comfortable rather than awkward :) At Baekga, they also give you a scalp massage while shampooing, and honestly, it relieved way more stress than I expected 🤩 It feels a tiny bit painful at first? But it ends up feeling so refreshing 👍🏻

A dark black finish with no red tones

Ta-da‼️❤️ My pretty, deep black color is complete 🖤🖤 I had already gotten a layered cut, so I did not touch the length at all and only dyed it, but the overall vibe changed so much!

They finished the styling beautifully too, and I went to pick up my husband from the airport that day. The moment he saw me, he said my hair had turned out so pretty 🖤

Even under natural outdoor light, there was not a trace of red or leftover brassy color, so I was beyond satisfied with how thoroughly it turned out 🖤😆

Toning it down to a dark color for fall definitely made all my outfits feel neater too haha. Just being happy that the hair on top and underneath was finally all the same color...💕
