I went on a little outing to Gapyeong recently, so I'm writing up my review of lunch at Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi (다미설악숯불닭갈비)~

I was scrolling for good Gapyeong restaurants and the reviews were unusually good, so I went without expecting much — and it totally delivered haha. Apparently it's also known as a spot near Shine Dale??
Where is Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi, and is there parking?
Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi is a charcoal-grilled dakgalbi restaurant on Hanseo-ro in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, and there's parking right in front. Even the sign looked reliable, true to a proper charcoal dakgalbi place haha. If you're looking for a good dakgalbi restaurant in Gapyeong, I'd recommend this one.

True to being a good spot near Gapyeong IC, it's barely any distance from the exit, so it was really easy to find!! Being near Gapyeong IC also made driving there convenient haha. Since it's also known as a good place near Shine Dale and The Stay Healing Park, I saw a lot of families who looked like they'd just come from there.

The owner said a lot of customers come looking for it after visiting The Stay Healing Park haha. Since there's parking right in front, I could walk in without any worry about where to park >_< Out of all the good restaurants in Gapyeong-gun, this one really has the best accessibility.

Inside Dami Seorak: seating and color-coded kid chairs
Inside Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi, every table has its own charcoal grill and ventilation setup, so I didn't have to worry much about smoke. The atmosphere was cozy too haha.

And there were really so many families with kids! They had multiple color-coded kid chairs, which was great,,, I could tell right away this is a really good place to visit as a family haha.
Menu: seasoned dakgalbi, soy-sweet dakgalbi and the lunch special

To properly enjoy Gapyeong dakgalbi, we ordered both the seasoned dakgalbi and the soy-sweet dakgalbi!!!

There was also a lunch special makguksu set (makguksu noodles + boiled pork), and the composition looked pretty good?? There was also a sign asking that kids be seated on the side away from the charcoal grill since underneath the table gets hot — seeing this kind of thoughtful care made it clear why this is such a good place for families haha.

What side dishes come with the dakgalbi?
While waiting, the side dishes got set up first, and there was quite a variety hahaha. Chive salad, crunchy onions, ssamjang, tangy radish pickle, spicy chili leaf salad, sweet-and-sour acorn jelly salad — every single one was delicious,,, true to a good Gapyeong-gun restaurant, even the side dishes were great.

How does the charcoal-grilled dakgalbi taste?
Finally, the dakgalbi arrives

As soon as it hit the charcoal, the sizzling sound alone made my mouth water,,, the soy-sweet dakgalbi's charm was its savory flavor without being harsh!! Not salty at all, just a subtle lingering umami. The seasoned dakgalbi was on the spicy-sweet side, but still not overly intense, so this one was more to my taste haha.

We also grilled rice cake skewers alongside, and they cooked up nice and chewy — a real treat haha.

The outside was slightly crispy while the inside was juicy, so every piece was delicious no matter the cut. I've been to several dakgalbi places around Gapyeong, but here the meat had no gamey smell at all and just went straight in haha.

I picked out only the pieces grilled to a nice golden brown, and thought, so this is what they mean by crispy outside, tender inside,,,

The review-event buckwheat pancake and how to wrap it
Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi gives you a buckwheat pancake if you take part in their review event, so I did too! I ate it marveling at how insanely good the crispy-outside, soft-inside texture was. I really recommend joining the review event haha.

Wrapping rice and garlic in lettuce with a piece of dakgalbi on top doubled the mild, savory flavor,,, putting a freshly grilled piece over rice with garlic was also a great combo,,
Verdict: Dami Seorak as a family lunch near Gapyeong IC
Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi, a good Gapyeong restaurant, lived up to being a great Gapyeong dakgalbi spot with a savory flavor that isn't too intense — the kind of place that would satisfy adults and kids alike!

True to a good restaurant near Gapyeong IC, it's easy to get to and has convenient parking right out front, so I'm planning to stop by again next time I do a Shine Dale restaurant tour or head out to The Stay Healing Park!!! With well-equipped kid chairs, it was a really great place to visit as a family too. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gapyeong or Gapyeong-gun, I recommend Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi!><
