Seocho chicken restaurant for crispy Six Pack: Kkanbu Chicken
In short
Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is a chicken restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, near Nambu Terminal Station. I ordered the Crispy Six Pack with frozen Terra draft beer and Sapporo draft beer; the generous drumstick portions and crisp-yet-juicy texture stood out. Verdict: a great stop when chicken and beer are calling near Nambu Terminal or Seoul National University of Education Station.

Ever since that Jensen Huang chicken gathering, how badly had I wanted chicken... haha. There isn't a Kkanbu near my neighborhood, so I had been keeping an eye on it, thinking I absolutely had to go someday. Then, on a day when I had something to do near Seoul National University of Education Station, I gladly walked all the way to Nambu Terminal Station for Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch! It is very close—about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Nambu Terminal Station on Line 3—and about a 10-minute walk from Seoul National University of Education Station.

I had visited the Nambu Terminal branch before, but it had moved from the building right in front of Exit 1 to a building just a little farther inside. The whole place felt a bit cleaner and cozier!

A spacious dining room for Nambu Terminal group gatherings
Perhaps because it is in a business-heavy area, it felt well suited to company dinners and group get-togethers, too.

That evening, group reservation tables for around 50 people at 6 p.m. and 40 people at 7 p.m. had already been set up ;;

With its wide tables and open feel, it seemed like a great space for group gatherings. There were lots of delivery and takeout customers as well as group diners.

Of course, there were also plenty of walk-in parties of two, three, and four.

With the weather turning cool, the folding doors were thrown wide open, giving it such a strong outdoor-drinking vibe~ We visited around the late-lunch/early-dinner hour and left while it was still bright, so it really felt like weekend daytime drinking!
Kkanbu Chicken's menu and varied draft beers
The Kkanbu Chicken menu.

At some point, the Crispy Six Pack became my fixed order whenever I visit Kkanbu Chicken, so I ordered it the moment I sat down this time too. But honestly, Kkanbu Chicken's garlic rotisserie chicken is also so good...

The Nambu Terminal branch has a slightly wider variety of drinks: Sapporo, Kirin, and Guinness on draft, plus assorted highballs including Suntory, Jim Beam, and Johnnie Walker. Their set menus pairing easy snacks with bottled beer are worth noting too, so it would make a nice spot for a second or third round!

Out came the frozen Terra draft beer. It was so cold that the overflowing foam ran down and froze right away.

The basic snacks are puffed corn and pickled radish for chicken, but honestly, one draft beer could go down in a single shot with just those two.
After finishing them, we got refills several times...
Crispy Six Pack: a generous one-and-a-half-chicken portion
About 10 minutes passed, maybe? Then the chicken arrived! The Crispy Six Pack.

Three drumstick pieces, plus three pieces where breast meat and wing are attached. A generous one-and-a-half-chicken portion: the Crispy Six Pack. Of every Crispy Six Pack I have received so far, this one had the most golden and clean-looking coating. Just like its name, the outer crust looked incredibly crisp.

It already looked delicious... There was no way it could not be delicious.

They say it is chicken fried with a double coating of powder. It has not been on the menu for very long, yet so many people pick it as their number-one Kkanbu Chicken order—the Crispy Six Pack clearly has a huge presence....

I am one of the Crispy Six Pack maniacs too..!! We spread it out to help it cool while hot, and now it was time to eat.

The accompanying sauces were salt and seasoned sauce.

Starting with the crispy-yet-juicy drumstick
Starting with the nicely fried drumstick.

Maybe because it is double-fried, be very careful: if you pick it up as soon as it arrives, your hand might go, “Ow, hot!”

The coating outside was wonderfully shatteringly crisp, while the inside was properly juicy!

The drumstick combines thigh and lower-leg meat, a collection of wonderfully tender cuts that people like me who dislike dry breast meat prefer. There were three warm, tender drumsticks, meaning even if two people each ate one, one piece would still remain!

Next, the breast-and-wing piece. With a slight twist, the wing comes off easily too.

Of course... breast meat is just not my territory, so my companion ate it. But the wing, as expected, was brined with a nice salty flavor, and together with the coating it was such a beer thief!

In the end, we added a Sapporo draft beer!

The frozen Terra draft beer had a bright, gulp-gulp taste that hit the throat, while the Sapporo beer had a cozy texture and flavor that wrapped around it! It was a lovely day tasting Kkanbu Chicken's Six Pack in this semi-outdoor space :-) Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is a good place for chicken and beer when you are craving an outdoor-style beer near Nambu Terminal or Seoul National University of Education Station!
