There are so many good restaurants and cafés around Balsan Station that it's an easy place to set up a meeting, but Mikodam had a calmer atmosphere than a typical restaurant, good for when you want to enjoy your meal a bit more quietly.

I also liked that it sits right on the border between Magok district and Deungchon-dong, so it's easy to reach not just from around Balsan Station but from the Magok side too.

Mikodam also has a fun birthday event. It's called something like 'seaweed soup someone else cooks for you tastes best on your birthday.' If you reserve for 4 or more people and order 4 or more menu items, they give you a large beef jeon (yukjeon) as a birthday treat.

You need to visit within a week before or after your birthday, and bring your ID to confirm your birthdate. For elders whose registered birthdate on their resident registration differs from their actual birthday, you'll need proof like a birthday cake or something to show it's actually their birthday, so keep that in mind.

If you have a birthday or family event coming up, it might be worth taking advantage of this event. That said, even with a Naver reservation, there may be a bit of waiting, so I'd recommend giving yourself some buffer time when planning your visit.
