Today's post is a review of Boksakkot Pineun Jip Incheon Branch, a jjukkumi (baby octopus) restaurant in Guwol-dong, Incheon. The place is huge, so I really recommend it for group gatherings!

The restaurant is enormous, and there are outdoor tables too — though these aren't for dining, just for sitting and chatting. You'll find out what these tables are really for later, haha :)

Seating at 7:30 pm: a wide hall built for group dinners

Even though I visited around 7:30 pm, there were tons of customers already dining! Some group parties were there too — since the place is so spacious, it seems like a great spot for group visits.

How much is the charcoal set menu, and what comes with it?

The most famous menu at Boksakkot Pineun Jip, a Guwol-dong favorite, is the charcoal-grilled menu! You can choose between jeyuk (spicy pork), jjukkumi (baby octopus), or nakji (long-arm octopus).

Order the set menu and you get a handmade wood-fired pizza (choice of 1) plus salad, mukguk (acorn jelly soup), and coffee — totally recommend it!!

  • Charcoal jjukkumi (baby octopus) ₩16,900 × 2

You can mix and match the charcoal dishes, so since we wanted a variety, we ordered jeyuk and jjukkumi together! My mom had been here before and said the gorgonzola pizza was delicious, so we picked gorgonzola for the set pizza :)haha

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Boksakkot Pineun Jip

The basic side dishes come out really nicely, right? If you need more of the four side dishes, you can grab extras yourself from the self-serve bar. For salad and mukguk, just ask a staff member! There's also miyeokguk (seaweed soup) at the self-serve bar, so be sure to grab some!!

Every single side dish was seasoned just right. I think they've got a chef with real hand-skill back there :)haha

Mixing bowl with lettuce and bean sprouts, served with rice

They give you a mixing bowl with lettuce and bean sprouts, plus rice on the side — you mix in whichever jjukkumi, jeyuk, or nakji you ordered.

How do the charcoal jjukkumi and jeyuk taste?

A plate of charcoal jjukkumi, two servings

Two servings of jjukkumi, and the portion was huge! I ordered spice level 2, and it was just spicy enough to be delicious!! Being charcoal-grilled, it had a deep smoky flavor!

One serving of charcoal jeyuk

The jeyuk was one serving, but generous too. Not dry at all — soft, with a nice balance of fat, really tasty jeyuk.

Handmade wood-fired gorgonzola pizza from the set menu
A slice of gorgonzola pizza drizzled with honey

Highly recommend the gorgonzola pizza! It comes with honey, and dipping it in a little honey gives you salty + sweet + savory, which paired really well with the spicy jjukkumi and jeyuk!!

Close-up of plump charcoal-grilled jjukkumi

The jjukkumi pieces were nice and plump, so they had good chew and no fishy taste at all — I ate it up happily.

Rice bowl mixed with jjukkumi and jeyuk

Mixing the jjukkumi and jeyuk into the rice bowl, it wasn't salty at all and the smoky flavor really came through, so it was delicious — I finished the whole thing!

Free ssal gangjeong for a review, plus a drink on the way out

Leave a Naver review + save the place and you can get free rice gangjeong (rice puff snack)! It's ₩1,500 if bought separately! I wrote a review and got a bag of gangjeong — and it was actually really good..? I finished the whole bag quickly.

Drink station at the restaurant entrance

At the entrance there's a spot where they make coffee or other drinks — after your meal, you can grab whichever drink you want on your way out. Since this was dinner, I felt plum tea suited it better than coffee, so I went with that.

After grabbing your drink, it seems like it would be really nice to sit on that terrace I showed you earlier from outside and enjoy it there. There are lots of tables in the outdoor space, so on a nice day, having a chat over coffee after your meal would be really lovely.

Even ordering just the jjukkumi gets you a wide variety of side dishes plus pizza, so it's great value — and with such a spacious restaurant, I'd recommend this Guwol-dong favorite for both group outings and family gatherings!
