For my mother’s 70th birthday this time, I prepared a slightly more special flower gift. I do often give her bouquets for her birthday, but since this was her 70th, I wanted something fuller and more properly prepared.

Because it is inside Park Habio, I initially wondered if the flower shop would be difficult to find. The mall itself is large, so I thought I might end up wandering around inside, but I parked where they had told me in advance and took the escalator up—it was easier to find than I expected.

You might be visiting in a rush, so it was really nice that I could find it right inside the mall. Flower baskets are bulky and inconvenient to carry around for long, especially, but I could park and pick mine up directly along a short route, which was convenient. I also got 1 hour of free parking, so there was no burden.

A large flower shop

My first thought when I entered was, “Oh… this flower shop is much bigger than I expected?”

When you think of a neighborhood flower shop, you usually picture flowers packed tightly into a small space, but this was a quite sizable shop.

Along with fresh-flower bouquets and baskets, there were lots of potted plants, greenery, and other floral items, so it was fun to look around while they wrapped everything. It looked like there were many options to see and choose from depending on the recipient or purpose. And the staff were truly kind. I left after buying flowers in an even better mood myself. I had been quite concerned because it was a 70th-birthday gift, but they explained things well and helped me comfortably, so the pickup process felt good too.

What I prepared this time was a flower basket, not a bouquet. The overall palette was pink-toned. It was not all deep pink; soft pink and white were naturally mixed in, so it was not overly flashy or overwhelming. Personally, I thought it was a palette that most people would like as a gift.

What I liked most of all was the volume. It was not just pretty in photographs; when I actually held it, the flowers looked packed in and lush, so it did not feel lacking at all as a 70th-birthday gift.

The color combination was good, and the flowers were arranged at varying heights, making the overall shape look natural too. Wow, I thought, the person receiving this would feel happy.

I have given my mother bouquets a few times for her birthday. Of course, she liked them then too, but her reaction to this flower basket was a little different.

She actually liked the flower basket more than a bouquet. I think it was because she could set it down and enjoy it right away in its basket form, and the flowers themselves looked much more abundant. Especially for a day with more meaning than an ordinary birthday, like a 70th birthday, a flower basket felt a little more like a proper gift than a bouquet.

Seeing my mother love the flowers as soon as she saw them, I thought, ah, I’m glad I prepared them here. The recipient has to like a gift in the end, and this time, that reaction alone made it a success.
