Gasan Japanese restaurant kaisendon and abalone pasta: Gapposo
In short
Gapposo is a Japanese restaurant on the first floor of the Hyundai Terra DK Tower in Gasan Digital Complex, Geumcheon, Seoul. The order was the Kaisendon 18 (18,000 won sashimi rice bowl) and the spicy abalone innard pasta (26,000 won), and the fresh sashimi and the gently spicy abalone innard sauce stood out. Gapposo works equally well for a weekday meal after work and for a dinner date.

What Gapposo looks like inside and out

Hyundai Terra DK Tower is a huge building with tons of offices around it, so there are a lot of office workers nearby. We visited at 7pm on a weekday right after work hours, and it was still packed with them.

It seems like lunchtime and right after work are the busiest times. So if you're planning to visit during peak hours, I'd recommend booking ahead.

The signature lunch menu items are posted right there too. Great spot to hit up when you're craving Japanese food..♥

The interior felt clean and tidy.

Gapposo, a Gasan food spot, is apparently run by a chef who used to be the head chef at a Japanese restaurant in a 5-star hotel. With that kind of resume, I was already excited before even walking in (heart pounding).

Since we ordered kaisendon (Japanese seafood rice bowl), the table was set up accordingly.

Is the Kaisendon 18 at Gapposo worth 18,000 won?

There were so many reviews raving about the kaisendon, so we ordered that instead of sushi. Just look at the visuals — how could this possibly not taste good?

All the fish were incredibly fresh and high quality. Apparently they use fish and seafood caught along Korea's three coastlines, prepared with care using traditional Japanese techniques.

From white fish to tuna, salmon, and eel, every piece of sushi had me nodding along in approval. I tried to photograph each piece, but it was so good I forgot to take pictures halfway through. The white fish wasn't chewy at all — it just melted, with a lovely texture. The more you chewed, the nuttier the flavor got.

This was my pick for the best piece in the kaisendon 18. It had that reddish color like a red shrimp, with a distinct aroma and texture that made it my clear favorite. It was noticeably different from the usual sweet shrimp or vinegared shrimp you'd normally eat. After finishing the kaisendon 18, I found myself thinking I should have gotten the kaisendon 29 instead — it was so delicious that I felt like I could've handled even more.
The abalone innard sauce in Gapposo's spicy pasta

We're a couple who loves geuu sauce, made from abalone intestines, so whenever a restaurant has abalone intestine pasta on the menu, we absolutely have to order it. Before visiting, I combed through Naver reviews and blog posts, and this pasta got rave reviews too.

And honestly, the whole place just gave off this vibe of really knowing how to cook, so it felt like a shame to only order the kaisendon (^^)

The menu name includes the word 'spicy,' and despite its appearance, it really did have a kick of spice mixed in. If the geuu sauce were left to do all the talking on its own, it could easily get repetitive or turn greasy, but with that mild spiciness added in, we were able to scrape the plate clean without getting tired of it. Plus, it came with generously sliced abalone for texture, and bread on the side to mop up the sauce — which doubled as dessert too.
A Gasan Japanese restaurant for work lunches and dinner dates
The menu itself feels like something you'd be happy to treat someone to, or be treated with, so it seems perfect for business meals too. Being near an area packed with office workers, it seems like a genuinely useful restaurant for that crowd. And for a date, like the one we had, the atmosphere and the food pairing suit it well too, so I'd recommend it as a date spot as well.✨
