Solo dining at 5pm: the ₩49,000 sushi course
Great value solo sushi course. Sushi course ₩49,000

Walking inside, the whole place had a clean, warm wood-tone atmosphere. I arrived right after break time at 5pm and thought I'd be the first dinner guest, but people were already drinking in one of the rooms.

Since I'd made a reservation, they had a comfortable table ready for solo dining. I ordered the sushi course 49. Since I was alone, I figured it'd be better to just have one course rather than order this and that.
Starter porridge and five kinds of sashimi
First came a starter porridge. True to course-style dining, it doesn't jump straight to sushi — it starts with something light to wake up the palate, which felt quite different from a typical sushi restaurant meal.
Next was five kinds of sashimi. It was nice being able to taste several kinds at once. The raw fish was plated cleanly, so it looked great too, and it was fun comparing the flavors one by one.
The fish being fresh made it even better. The white fish sashimi is eaten simply dipped in soy sauce.
Kobachi and yakimono
Then came kobachi (small side dish). Kobachi apparently means a dish served in a small bowl in Japanese, and it seems to change daily.

After that came yakimono, meaning a grilled dish. You're curious what's inside, right?

I don't remember the exact name of the fish, but it was really soft and delicious. After the cold sashimi, eating a warm grilled dish felt easy on the stomach too.

Agemono: jumbo shrimp tempura
Next up was agemono, a fried dish. Having something crispy fried felt like a little pause before the sushi.

The jumbo shrimp tempura in particular was really crispy and delicious, and huge in size!

wow!
12 kinds of sushi and finishing udon
And finally came what you could call the main event: the sushi. The 49 course I ordered came with 12 kinds of sushi, so there was quite a lot of variety.

Uni. I ate this one first.
Eel sushi — can't leave that out. They put on a nice chunky piece of eel.
Caviar on top. Every single piece of sushi was fresh and had its own character, so I enjoyed all 12 pieces.

I finished with udon. Having a light noodle dish at the end was exactly right for wrapping up the meal.
Final thoughts: solo-friendly sushi near Gasan Station
A Gasan Station sushi restaurant with style and flavor alive!
I went to eat sushi alone, and it turned out to be more solo-friendly than I expected. I also liked that it wasn't just sushi — I got to enjoy sashimi, grilled dishes, tempura, sushi, and noodles all in one sitting. Next time I'd like to come with someone and try the sashimi and other dishes with a drink.
