Upstairs Kitchen was located in front of Jeodong Elementary School in Ilsan, and parking was available right in front of the restaurant.
My dermatology appointment at Ilsan Hospital ended early, so I arrived a whole 15 minutes before opening!! I was sitting on the outdoor chairs waiting when a kitchen staff member smoking right next to the building ruined my mood with the smoke. I thought about going to the main branch of Deungchon Kalguksu across the street instead, but of course it happened to be closed that day... Not wanting to waste the time and gas, I went in anyway;;

A classic, true-to-basics aglio olio pasta loaded with garlic — adding lemon to taste turns it into something special!

The generous sirloin steak arrived 🥩 nicely roasted to medium, cut into portions perfect for sharing with my husband. The baby potato garnish was tasty too, and the jalapeño wasabi sauce served alongside was a full-marks flavor bonus for this sirloin steak.
There was that letdown before I even walked in, but both the pasta and the steak were delicious, and the staff handling service were genuinely kind — overall, a good time at Upstairs Kitchen.
