Today I'm introducing TAGE Indoor Camping in Hongdae, a spot that's been getting hot lately for anyone who wants to feel that full camping vibe right in the middle of the city — and honestly, it exceeded my expectations, so this review's going to be long.

Where is TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch and how does it work?

TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch is really accessible, right near Hongik University Station. Normally camping means driving far out and packing a ton of gear from the start, but here you just hop on the subway and walk right in — zero hassle from the get-go.

A campsite atmosphere built one floor below ground

The moment you step through the entrance, a completely different world opens up from what's outside — the grass-textured flooring, the lighting, the tents all recreate that camping-ground feeling really well. Being indoors is a huge plus too, since you're not affected by the weather at all. Rain, snow, hot or cold, you can enjoy that camping mood comfortably no matter what.

There are tents scattered around that look like something straight out of Parasite.

You can tell they put thought into every detail — the tables, chairs, tents, and mood lighting. Thanks to the soft string lights, photos come out really well, so I'd call this the perfect spot for that Instagram-worthy shot. The seats are also spaced out generously, so you can chat with friends without worrying about the next table. Add in the softly playing music and it genuinely felt like sitting at an outdoor glamping site. Even though it's indoors, there's no stuffy feeling at all, and sitting inside a tent somehow makes you feel extra cozy and happy.

Board games, karaoke, arcade machines and Nintendo, all free

There are so many board games in the store, and you can use them freely as you like,

and you can also use the karaoke machine freely like this. That said, you do have to sing in front of everyone else around.

Even though it's a basement space, the air was surprisingly clean, and even though most tables were grilling meat, there was strangely no meat smell at all. They seem really serious about ventilation.

You can also use these nostalgic arcade machines freely. Play these and you might lose track of time entirely.

Inside the tents that call Parasite to mind, there's also a Nintendo console and monitor set up like this.

Usage fees, corkage rules and what you can bring in

This indoor party room near Hongik University Station has a basic usage fee of ₩40,000. Seats without a monitor get a ₩10,000 discount, down to ₩30,000. The great thing is that corkage is allowed! And instead of charging per bottle, they charge ₩15,000 per table with no limit on how much you bring! Of course, the soju, beer, and drinks they sell in-store can't be brought in from outside. Plus, you can bring in takeout food or your own meat to grill — but if you bring meat, you'll need to rent a grill plate and butane gas. The burner itself is free! They also sell pork belly in-store, and given the usage fee, it's priced reasonably. The fresh pork belly I brought in that day was ₩14,500 per serving, and that price includes vegetables, kimchi, and pickled radish.

The most important part of camping is, of course, the eating. Here, you get that full experience of grilling meat outdoors, but indoors. We ordered two servings of fresh pork belly, and the setup was really substantial. The meat was juicy and thick, with a great chew to it, and the kimchi that came with it was really tasty too. The meat felt especially fresh. Grilled golden-brown on the plate and wrapped up with the grilled kimchi, it genuinely tasted like something you'd eat at an actual campsite.

There's no way this combo of pork belly and grilled kimchi could taste bad! The pork belly especially was so fresh that it tasted even better than expected.

I wonder how many places in Seoul let you grill meat while watching Netflix like this.

Verdict: why TAGE also suits workshops and group dinners

The owner and staff were really kind, so the whole visit felt comfortable. When they explained things or handed over the grilling tools we needed, they explained everything well, and overall the store felt well managed and clean, which was reassuring on the hygiene front too.

Getting to enjoy the feel of outdoor camping and the comfort of an indoor space at the same time was really great. Since you can go camping without carrying any gear at all, I'd highly recommend TAGE Indoor Camping in Hongdae if you want a different kind of date in the middle of Seoul, or want to grill meat with friends and get that camping mood without packing anything. It's also a really appealing spot for a company workshop, indoor company outing, or group dinner that won't be affected by weather. I'm planning to come back soon with more friends.
