Why we picked Magic & Joy for a kids' magic show in Gwanggyo

I spent a slightly special day with my child this weekend. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had much time with my kid, so instead of the usual routine, I searched for a fun show in Suwon we could enjoy together.

My child loves magic and hands-on experiences, so while looking for something a Suwon kid would enjoy, we ended up visiting 'MAGIC N JOY' at Galleria Department Store in Gwanggyo.

Honestly, I assumed a children's magic show would mainly be for kids, but I ended up way more into it than I expected — I was clapping and going 'whoa, whoa' along with everyone else, and we kept talking about it even after the show ended 🤍

What I loved most was that it wasn't a show where kids just sit and watch. There was a lot of time for the kids to actually participate, touch things, and talk with the magician.

Magic & Joy is located on the CGV floor, the 10th floor of Galleria Department Store Gwanggyo. As soon as you step off the elevator, a big sign reading 'WELCOME TO THE MAGIC SHOW' catches your eye.

From the entrance, it felt less like a regular theater and more like stepping into a tiny circus town. Even the tickets weren't just plain paper — they were designed to match the show's atmosphere.

The entrance signage was cutely decorated too, and there were little props scattered around the venue, so there were quite a few spots for photos.

✨ And then the show finally started! The moment it began, the whole atmosphere changed. The lights dimmed and the magician appeared on stage — and right then, the kids' eyes lit up.

What impressed me most wasn't even the magic itself, but the way the magician interacted with the audience. He asked the kids questions, said things like "who wants to help me out?" to bring kids up on stage, and let kids in the audience touch the magic props directly.

So throughout the show, the kids all had this sense of anticipation — 'maybe I'll get picked next!'

Honestly, I thought a show for kids just needed to be fun for the kids. But that wasn't the case here at all!!! I kept going "wait, how did he do that?" the whole time too.

A lot of the tricks were done up close, so it didn't feel like watching from far away at all — it felt like the magic was happening right in front of us. It was also fun watching the magician riff off the kids' reactions in real time. The whole show flew by much faster than I expected.

And then, the highlight of the day. My child actually took part in a trick — the table levitation!

This was the trick — and while everyone was watching in awe, the magician asked, "Is there a kid who wants to try this with me?" and my child was the first to raise a hand.

It was a moment we made together, and honestly I got a little emotional taking photos of it.

Even after the show, my kid kept saying, "Mom, that wasn't magic tricks." So I asked, "Then what was it?" and got: "It's magic magic." Hahaha. My kid must have really been amazed. 🥹

On the way home, my kid kept talking about how it worked and said they wanted to try it too. This is probably the best part of watching a show with your child — it's not just 'we watched a show,' it becomes a memory that stays with them for a long time.

I felt like the biggest strength of Magic & Joy was that kids got to actually participate throughout the show. Instead of just sitting in their seats watching,

• There are moments they can actually touch things

The whole show felt like it was being built together with the kids. That's probably why even the younger kids didn't get bored and stayed focused. Especially once my child got to actually participate in a trick, the level of immersion in the show clearly changed.

🎪 After the show, we looked around the space a bit more. There were cute magic- and circus-themed photo zones set up here and there.

From a spot with a giant card and clock on green grass, to a red-striped photo zone, to a space with star-shaped cushions — it was great for taking photos with my child.

📸 This part I really loved too. After the show, the magician personally took photos with the kids.

From the kid's perspective, they got to watch the show, take part in a trick, and finish with photos with the magician — like experiencing one complete little event. 🤍 For kids like mine who actually participated during the show, it probably becomes an even more special memory.

🎪 On one side of the venue, there were various props related to magic — from hats to toys to things that looked like magic tools — a good space for kids to look around.

Maybe because we'd just watched the show, it was fun watching my child connect the props to the tricks they'd just seen.

How parking works at Galleria Gwanggyo

🚗 When going somewhere with my kid, I actually care about parking almost as much as the show itself. 😂 Being inside Galleria Gwanggyo made parking convenient, which was a big plus. And on this visit, show audiences were given 3 hours of parking.

If you're not just watching the show and leaving right away — taking photos, exploring the space, maybe eating at the department store — 3 hours gives you plenty of room to move around comfortably. For parking, just show your ticket to the CGV staff and they'll apply the 3 hours right away.

You register your parking here! Outings with a kid can get exhausting from the start if parking is a hassle, but here that stress was minimal, which I really liked.

💛 What I liked most about visiting Magic & Joy was how strongly it felt like a 'show made for kids.' It's not just flashy magic tricks — it's watching the kids' reactions, asking them questions, letting them participate directly, and sometimes making the kids themselves part of the magic.

So it felt like the kids were 'experiencing' the show rather than just 'watching' it. And surprisingly, I had a great time too 😊 Above all, the one line my kid said after the show — "It's not a trick, it's real magic" — is something I'll probably remember for a long time. It really seemed like a truly magical day for my child. 🪄✨

🎪 On a day when just going to the movies or a kids' café feels a bit lacking, and you want to give your child a slightly different experience, Magic & Joy at Galleria Gwanggyo could be a great option. Especially if your kids enjoy shows where they get to actually participate, they'll have even more fun.

Watching a show in Suwon, taking photos at the photo zones, and finishing with a meal at Galleria made for a pretty solid day-trip course. 🤍 It could also be a fun time for couples looking for a Suwon date course! For my child, I think this day will be remembered not as 'the day we watched a magic show' but as 'the day we experienced real magic.' 🪄
