Nowon sushi buffet autumn oyster menu and flounder sushi: Kuu Kuu
In short
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a sushi and seafood buffet on the 6th floor of the Onchun Building on Nowon-ro in Nowon, Seoul. The autumn menu brought steamed oysters in two styles (spicy vinegar sauce and cheese-grilled) alongside lamb chops, LA galbi and fresh salmon, though the oysters tasted closer to grilled than steamed and a few were dried out from long cooking. Oyster lovers can eat their fill at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, and the white kimchi on flounder sushi, the marble ice cream and the crepes were the standouts.

Kuu Kuu's fall new menu steamed oysters!💜 Anyone else a fan of steamed oysters? I'm an oyster killer so when I heard Kuu Kuu had steamed oysters on the menu, I ran right over haha.
Besides the new steamed oysters, they've added fall items like lamb chops, LA galbi, and fresh salmon, so if you're looking for a family-gathering restaurant in Nowon, I'd recommend this place!

What is on the autumn menu at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?

This season's most talked-about new items seem to be the steamed oysters, lamb chops, and fresh salmon. The fresh salmon clearly looked high quality at a glance.

It really is a family-gathering restaurant in Nowon — the little kids were loving the LA galbi! Seeing all the kids gnawing on ribs was so cute..

There's also smoked duck, and the lamb chops come dusted with cumin seasoning — they were so popular that by the time I went to take a photo, they were gone.

The fried items were surprisingly great too! Not soggy at all, really tasty.

The Chinese food corner is also popular, with braised pork knuckle, palbochae (mixed seafood and vegetable stir-fry), and more — but there were so many people I couldn't get a photo, sigh.
Try white kimchi on top of flounder sushi
There's a whole salad and vegetable section too, but the one thing you must grab is the white kimchi!! Here's why: white kimchi + flounder sushi is way tastier than the aged kimchi raw fish sushi.

They have aged kimchi raw fish sushi too, but grab regular flounder sushi and top it with white kimchi yourself!!
From shrimp and cheese sushi variations to all sorts of rolls, Kuu Kuu is a feast for the eyes. Scallops, conch, cuttlefish, bulgogi — they've got everything haha.
Yukhoe sushi, shrimp sushi, conch sushi — having so much raw fish sushi is honestly the biggest strength here! haha.
And the reason I came to Kuu Kuu today is the steamed oysters! There's spicy vinegar-sauce steamed oysters and cheese-grilled oysters, but honestly both looked more like grilled dishes haha.

The dessert and drinks corner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch
There's a saying these days that people go to Kuu Kuu just for the desserts.

The new combo Kuu Kuu is pushing is ice cream + marble ice cream. There are even more ice cream flavors now! No need to say more — the reason people go to Kuu Kuu these days, marble ice cream👏👏

For drinks there's slushies, sikhye (sweet rice punch), soft drinks, herbal tea, coffee. There's even a chocolate fountain the kids love!
Honest verdict on the autumn steamed oysters, lamb chops and LA galbi
Plates piled high with desire, eagerly scooped up! The steamed oyster plate of someone who came here for oysters — actually, it was closer to grilled than steamed.

The steamed oysters were the dish I reached for first among all this season's new items haha. They weren't salty, but some were grilled too long and a bit dried out, ugh, a bit of a letdown. But since I genuinely love oysters, getting to eat my fill of grilled oysters as a new menu item was great haha.

My first personal plate, including fresh salmon! haha.

My friend's salad plate. Soup en croute is a must-have — always grab at least one!

A roll sushi plate that fills you up just by looking at it. Full of ambition to plate it beautifully~

After tasting it, the fresh salmon was definitely high quality! The rolls looked pretty but I was too full to eat much sushi, a bit disappointing haha. Still, with so many varieties, picking and choosing was really fun.

The lamb chops also had a strong presence as befits a new menu item, though the lamb skewer spice powder coating might be a matter of taste. The cockle bibimbap was also surprisingly good, worth trying. Even the black sausage that looks unappetizing is actually delicious haha.

Mala tang and clam wine-steam are great to take a bite of when things get greasy, and both the Uljin snow crab cream soup and honey sweet pumpkin soup were delicious — great!

The jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) had a heavier broth than expected, so it filled me up. I should've tried the buckwheat noodles or udon instead~!
I've been to Kuu Kuu often but this was actually my first time trying the steamed crab haha. Bring someone who'll pick the meat out for you~ what an angel!

Waffles and three kinds of crepes at the dessert station
Honestly, I came today for the steamed oysters, while my friend came to demolish the desserts haha.

The dessert corner alone had so many varieties you could do a whole separate lap. Topping a waffle with whipped cream and marble ice cream and eating it in one bite is a combo I highly recommend.
The Nowon branch seems especially strong on desserts, and all 3 flavors of the new crepes were delicious. The crepes have a thin outer layer with generous cream, and I was satisfied trying all three flavors.
Would I go back to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch?
Everyone at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, from the staff to the ladies clearing empty plates, was so kind..! I plan to come back once my cooldown is over haha. If you searched for a family-gathering restaurant in Nowon and found your way here, the Nowon branch will be a choice you won't regret!

They're also running a promotion for ₩5,000 off with TossPay or on your birthday, so be sure to check before you visit!
