A great-value pork belly spot near Suyu Station

I was mulling over dinner options in Suyu and suddenly craved properly grilled pork belly on a cauldron lid, so I went to Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal.
Pork belly prices have gone up so much lately that ordering meat plus a few side dishes for two can add up fast. But here you can get 600g of pork belly and pork neck, half and half, for ₩29,000 a plate — the price alone caught my eye.
I wondered if a cheap price would mean a skimpy portion or basic table setting, but once I got there, the self-serve bar had a pretty wide spread — scallion salad, onion, lettuce wraps, all sorts of things. I even added steamed egg and cheese fried rice and left completely full.
If you're looking for a good restaurant near Suyu Station or a budget-friendly Suyu pork belly place, let me walk you through the price, the actual taste, and what's on the self-serve bar!!

Where is Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal? 7 minutes from Suyu Station
Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Suyu Station on Line 4, closer to the Beon-dong side!! Since it's not too pricey, it's also worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a Suyu bar-restaurant to grab pork belly and drinks with friends.
Inside Suyu Daewang and its cauldron-lid grill

The interior doesn't go for flashy design — it's a friendly, easygoing Korean BBQ atmosphere where you can just settle in and grill. Each table has a large cauldron-lid grill installed, so you can pile on meat and vegetables together and cook them all at once.

What I liked most was how solid the self-serve bar was.

There's lettuce and other wrap greens, kimchi, bean sprouts, mung bean sprouts — plenty of things that go well with meat — and the basic table setting already comes with scallion salad, onion and more. You can grab more of whatever you're low on without feeling awkward about it, which was convenient.

When I eat pork belly, I don't just eat the meat plain — I like piling on scallion salad, onion, lettuce. That day too, I put meat and scallion salad on lettuce, added onion in between, and tried a bunch of combinations.
Sprouts and kimchi also work well grilled together on the cauldron lid. Compared to places that only offer a few basic side dishes, being able to enjoy the meat in so many different ways felt like a real advantage for a Suyu pork belly restaurant.
Menu and prices: a 600g pork plate for 29,000 won

The menu at Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal has plenty of meat options. The aged fresh whole pork belly plate is 600g for ₩29,000, with add-ons like aged pork jowl 150g for ₩12,000, honeycomb pork skin 200g for ₩9,000, and thin-sliced pork belly 150g for ₩9,900.

There are also plenty of meal options: beef tartare bibimbap ₩8,000, bibim naengmyeon and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) each ₩7,000, beef brisket doenjang jjigae ₩6,900, kimchi jjigae ₩5,900, crab doenjang jjigae ₩4,900, and steamed egg ₩5,000.

They also sell beef as individual dishes. What we ordered as the main dish that day was pork belly and pork neck, half and half, 600g on one plate 🥩
Considering the main meat costs ₩29,000 for 600g, I thought the overall value was pretty good!! Especially if a group visits and adds a jjigae, cold noodles or fried rice on top of a meat plate, it's a comfortable price point for a good restaurant near Suyu Station.
How the pork tastes with minari and sprouts on the cauldron lid

We put pork belly and pork neck on the big cauldron lid and grilled minari and mung bean sprouts alongside them. The fat rendering off the meat naturally soaks into the vegetables, making them far more savory than if you ate them plain!!

What I especially liked about this place was that there's variety not just in the meat itself but in what you pair it with 😋 You can mix scallion salad, onion, lettuce wraps however you like, and top up at the self-serve bar if you run low. That kind of setup feels like a big plus for anyone looking for a Suyu pork belly restaurant!!!
The pork belly had a good thickness, and once grilled to a golden brown, the savory flavor really came through. You do have to grill it yourself, though!

Putting a piece of pork belly on lettuce with scallion salad, onion and ssamjang (dipping sauce) — that's a combo that's hard to mess up, haha.

Pork neck is leaner than pork belly, so it was nice to switch between the two. Personally, if I'd eaten 600g of pork belly alone I think it would've felt a bit greasy toward the end, but splitting it half and half with pork neck kept things from getting tiring 🤭 I actually preferred the pork neck over the pork belly!!

The steamed egg we ordered as a side was tasty too. Instead of the usual salty style, it had a slightly sweet flavor and a fluffy texture. Taking a spoonful in between bites of greasy pork belly felt like it smoothed everything out nicely.

Finally, after finishing the meat, we wrapped up with a hearty serving of fried rice!!
Is Suyu Daewang worth it? Overall verdict
Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal's biggest strength is that you can eat pork belly and pork neck to your heart's content at a reasonable price! A 600g plate for ₩29,000, plus a well-stocked self-serve bar, made it feel worth the money. If I ever need pork belly in Suyu again, I'd happily come back.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value restaurant near Suyu Station, a filling Suyu pork belly spot, or a Suyu bar-restaurant to enjoy meat and drinks casually with friends.
