Suyu Station tonkatsu restaurant with extra tenderloin: Katsu Shokudou
In short
Katsu Shokudou Suyu is a Japanese-style tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant in Gangbuk, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Exit 5 of Suyu Station. The writer ordered the jumbo shrimp cheese katsu set for 19,000 won and added one tenderloin piece for 3,500 won, trying it with tartar sauce, brown sauce and Himalayan salt — the low-temperature aged tenderloin melted away with nothing but salt. With separate solo seats alongside tables for two to four, Katsu Shokudou Suyu suits both a quick meal alone and a relaxed date.

Hi, this is Jerry 🐹

I had something to do near Suyu Station and heard there was a famous tonkatsu spot nearby, so I went to check it out! Katsu Shokudou Suyu near Suyu Station worked great for office lunches, eating alone, and dates too, and the menu was so varied that I wanted to introduce it to you :)
Where is Katsu Shokudou Suyu, and what are its hours?

I visited Katsu Shokudou Suyu, a famous Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant near Suyu Station! It was about a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Suyu Station, and it was easy to find since it's tucked inside the first floor of Episode Suyu838, across from the restroom, haha.

Inside Katsu Shokudou Suyu: solo seats and table setting
Here's what the inside of Katsu Shokudou Suyu looks like~ The place isn't huge, but it has plenty of 2-4 person tables, so it's perfect for a date or lunch, and there are also separate single seats for solo diners, which I loved haha 👍
Every seat had chutlery, wet wipes, and tissues neatly set up, so it was comfortable to use, and Himalayan salt for the katsu was already there too, which was great! There's even an illustrated guide on how to eat the tonkatsu the tastiest way~

Katsu Shokudou menu and what the writer ordered
As befits its fame as a Japanese specialty restaurant near Suyu Station, Katsu Shokudou really has a huge variety of menu items~ From tonkatsu set meals to curry and katsu nabe, there was so much! They say Katsu Shokudou uses a patented yuzu low-temperature aging process for the pork, which gives it a richer, more tender flavor!

What comes with the 19,000-won jumbo shrimp cheese katsu set
I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Cheese Katsu Set so I could try the delicious cheese katsu and jumbo fried shrimp at once~ The moment it arrived, my jaw actually dropped at how amazing it looked ....❤️❤️

Rice, soup, and salad come together with it, and if you ask for more, they'll give you more!! You can easily request it via the tablet~
How big is the fried tiger shrimp?
This is the special fried shrimp unique to Katsu Shokudou Suyu, made with tiger shrimp! The size of just one piece was seriously like three shrimp combined into one, haha.

I lightly cut off just the head and dipped it in the tartar sauce that came with it, and the tender shrimp meat was so good, plus the sauce was sweet and savory, which I really liked!

Two pieces of cheese katsu and the mozzarella pull
The cheese katsu also comes as two pieces, and there's really a ton of mozzarella cheese packed inside the tonkatsu~ The cheese and the tonkatsu were so glossy and looked incredibly delicious!
They must use natural cheese, because it stretches like crazy! The savory cheese flavor paired perfectly with the tender tonkatsu, so it was really delicious, and I think cheese katsu is something people of all ages would love, so I highly recommend it, haha.

Dipping it lightly in the sweet brown tonkatsu sauce that came with it was so delicious ❤️ Looking at these photos makes me want to eat it again ..💕

Adding a tenderloin piece for 3,500 won and tasting it with Himalayan salt
I was curious about the true flavor of the low-temperature aged tonkatsu, so I ordered an extra piece of tenderloin to try!

Wasabi came with it too, and I tried dipping it lightly in the Himalayan salt that was already at the table — it melted in my mouth, and I could really feel how tenderly the pork had been fried, haha. Next time I visit, I want to try the other tonkatsu menu items too!
