Songdo sushi restaurant on the outlet walkway: Sushi Doku The Songdo
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, Incheon, linked indoors to the Songdo Hyundai Outlet. A couple with a late weekday start arrived at opening, joined the Catch Table walk-in list because phone and Naver reservations only take parties of 6 or more, and shared the premium sushi set for two: 10 pieces of sushi plus chawanmushi, salad, udon and karaage. For a filling, good-value meal right after shopping, Sushi Doku The Songdo is the answer.

We both had a late start on a weekday, so my husband and I went out together. Since we were heading to the Songdo Hyundai Outlet anyway, we decided to grab a good lunch too — that's how we ended up at this Songdo favorite, Sushi Doku The Songdo.

Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo? Linked to the outlet, with 2.5 hours of free parking
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, connected inside the building to the Songdo Hyundai Outlet without ever having to step outside. Shopping and eating flow together so smoothly that I'd recommend it as the go-to meal spot after a trip to the outlet.

The parking lot had plenty of space and the 2.5-hour free support was really convenient. Coming up from the basement parking elevator to the 2nd floor, the restaurant was right there, facing Outback. This building connects to Homeplus on one side and the outlet on the other — shopping, groceries, and dining all in one loop, very convenient. Homeplus didn't seem to be fully open yet, but the passage was open and staff were moving around, so it looked like at least part of it (the food court) was operating.
How do parties of two get a table? Catch Table walk-in, so arrive at opening
Sushi Doku The Songdo only takes Naver/phone reservations for groups of 6 or more, so for two people it's Catch Table walk-in. The place looked upscale from the outside, total date-night vibes, so exciting! We did an opening run — a great call. By noon the wait had gotten long.

There were notices that groups of 5 might have trouble sitting together, and no pets allowed, plus pricing for dine-in versus takeout sushi sets — takeout was ₩4,000 to ₩6,000 cheaper. I loved that they had a kids' set too. The sashimi pricing was also a steal.

Soft lighting, gentle music — the interior atmosphere was great too. Even though we came for the opening, plenty of other people had the same idea. Sushi Doku is worth the opening run, confirmed haha.
What comes in the premium sushi set for two at Sushi Doku The Songdo?
We ordered the premium sushi set for two. It comes out as an individual tray for each person, with 10 pieces of sushi, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), salad, udon, and karaage (fried chicken). Worried that 10 pieces wouldn't be filling? Nope, not at all!!! We left completely stuffed.
My husband and I started eating while saying how good the value was for the price. But it wasn't just good value — the taste... so delicious 🤣 Eating something this good makes you feel closer to each other, we kept pushing dishes toward each other saying 'try this first'🤣 That kind of sweet, affectionate flavor! Haha.

Ordering via tablet at the table!

I think you can drop the assumption that good sushi has to be expensive.

What konbujime and shinkejime mean on the menu
There was an explanation about Sushi Doku's own traditional aging and preparation techniques, konbujime and shinkejime. The food was so good that even the explanation was an easy read. Konbujime is a traditional Japanese kelp-aging technique that elevates umami, tenderness, and rich fish flavor to another level. Shinkejime is a technique that instantly severs a live fish's nerve (an instant kill method) to keep the freshness and firmness of the sashimi at the highest possible level. So that's why it's so delicious~~~♡

🍣The 10 pieces: flounder, red seabream, salmon, squid, sweet shrimp, akami (lean tuna), red shrimp, snow crab meat, eel, ankimo (monkfish liver)
When we unwrapped the packaging, out came a little brush. Instead of dipping in soy sauce, we brushed it on. Wasabi was optional at ordering — we love wasabi, so we mixed it into the soy sauce and brushed it on generously.
The chawanmushi was so pudding-like and silky. It had a hint of truffle aroma, and the roe on top popped with each bite. As we ate, we even found a ginkgo nut inside. The shrimp tempura was crisp outside and moist inside, but the chicken was seasoned so well. This place is basically a fried chicken specialist too. The salad dressing was sweet and salty and delicious. I usually leave the salad behind even when I pretend to eat healthy, but my husband said it was delicious and finished it all. The udon noodles and broth were both good too.

How did each of the 10 sushi pieces taste?
Everything else can be great, but a sushi restaurant lives or dies by the sushi, right? The sushi at Sushi Doku The Songdo had no tough or chewy bits — it just melted. Haven't you had that experience where one piece tastes off and it ruins your appetite for the rest? Here, everything was fresh, nothing to skip.
- Flounder was clean-tasting with a subtle sweetness, firm but not overly chewy in a pleasant way.
- Red seabream was moist and soft.
- Salmon had that signature soft, rich fattiness and flavor.
- Squid had a chewy bite with sweetness that came through the more you chewed.
- Sweet shrimp lived up to its name — really sweet and delicious.
- Akami had the tuna's signature fresh aroma and softness.
- Red shrimp was firm and even chewier than the sweet shrimp.
- Snow crab meat was salty-sweet with great umami.
- Eel paired with a sweet-salty sauce for a savory finish in the mouth.
- Ankimo (monkfish liver) had a surprisingly rich, creamy texture that filled the mouth.
Every single piece was delicious — so touching.

Free otoro sushi for a review, plus wrapped baby chairs
We got otoro sushi as a Naver review event gift. I thought we'd have to split just one piece, but the staff kindly mentioned that if we both wrote reviews, they'd give us two pieces — so we each got to enjoy one. This melted too, haha. Time to head home — we left so full and felt so well taken care of that all our stress just melted away. Life doesn't need much more than this — eat something delicious with someone you love and your mood goes right back up! 😍

Even the baby chairs were individually wrapped to keep dust off. Such a clever, tidy touch!
