After wrapping up my Busan trip and heading to the station to catch the train, lunchtime hit and I had to figure out where to eat. Thinking about what to have in Busan, well — it had to be dwaeji gukbap (pork soup), right!!

Since I had to catch a train, I wanted somewhere near Busan Station instead of traveling far. Looking for something good value and easy to visit solo, I landed on Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch.
It was right by Busan Station, so getting there was easy, and a bowl of gukbap (soup with rice) was filling enough to make a solid meal — a good spot for the middle of a trip or right before boarding.

There were quite a few solo diners when I visited, and not just travelers — some looked like locals grabbing lunch nearby too. It seemed like a solid pick for anyone looking for solo gukbap near Busan Station.
Where is Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap and how do you get there from Busan Station?
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Busan Station.

It's on the 2nd floor of the Asti Hotel right next to Busan Station, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit — you can take the escalator straight up.
It's a convenient spot whether you're starting a trip from Busan Station or need a meal before boarding, and it seemed easy for nearby office workers to drop by for lunch too. Once you're on the 2nd floor, it's right across from Starbucks, so it was easy to spot.
Inside the restaurant: window seats for solo diners

The inside of Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch was bigger than I expected, mostly set up with 4-person tables, so it seemed comfortable for group visits too.

There were separate seats for solo dining, and since they were by the window, the natural light made it a nice spot to eat alone.

Overall the interior was clean and tidy, and with quite a few people eating solo, it felt like an easy, low-pressure place to visit when looking for solo gukbap near Busan Station.
Seeing a lot of travelers around also felt fitting for a restaurant near Busan Station, and it had the feel of a place where you could get a tidy, complete meal.
A Busan menu from milmyeon noodles to gukbap

The menu brings together milmyeon (buckwheat noodles) and dwaeji gukbap, two dishes that represent Busan, so it's full of things you'd want to try at least once if you're visiting. Milmyeon comes in mul milmyeon (in broth) and bibim milmyeon (mixed with sauce), each available in small or large, so it was easy to choose based on how hungry I was.

The soups include dwaeji gukbap and sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup), plus suyuk baekban (boiled pork set meal) for a heartier option. If it's evening or you're visiting with a few people, suyuk (boiled pork) also comes in small or large, and there are hand-made dumplings too, good as a side with your meal.

The menu wasn't overly complicated, but it was nice being able to choose between milmyeon and gukbap depending on my mood. If you're near Busan Station looking for classic Busan food, dwaeji gukbap is a solid Busan Station restaurant pick, and the prices were reasonable enough to be worth checking out if you're after good value.
What the writer ordered and what it cost

- Dwaeji gukbap (basic) 10,000 won
- Hand-made dumplings 7,000 won
- Zero-sugar cider 2,000 won

The table had dadegi (chili paste) for the gukbap, along with salted shrimp and pepper, plus vinegar for when you order milmyeon, so you could season the food to your own taste.

The basic side dishes came out one by one — kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and kimchi, plus garlic, chili peppers, onion, danmuji (pickled radish), chives, dried radish strips, and ssamjang (dipping sauce), quite a varied spread.

Of them all, the kimchi suited my taste the most — eaten with the gukbap, its salty, crunchy texture went really well together.
Basic dwaeji gukbap: two flavors in one bowl with chives and dadegi

The dwaeji gukbap arrives with a milky-white broth that isn't heavily seasoned to start, so you taste it plain first and then adjust with salted shrimp or pepper to your liking.
As soon as it arrived, I added chives right away — they wilted slightly in the hot broth and gave off a subtle aroma that worked really well.
Looking inside, there was plenty of green onion and meat, so even one bowl was quite filling.
The meat was tender and easy to eat with rice, and mixing rice into the milky broth made for a satisfying meal.
I started plain, then added dadegi (chili paste) about halfway through, and the whole mood of the broth completely changed.

With the spicy kick added, the once-plain broth turned into something richer, and it was fun to enjoy a different flavor in the second half.
Are the hand-made dumplings worth adding?
The dumplings were medium-sized, more suited to sharing than one bite, and the filling inside had that satisfyingly full, meat-dumpling texture.

The filling wasn't too loose and had just the right bite, making it a good pairing with the gukbap — a nice side to order if gukbap alone feels like it's not quite enough.

Overall it wasn't about bold, intense flavors but more about seasoning a basic gukbap to your own taste, which felt easy — a good fit for days when you want a quick meal at Busan Station that still feels like a proper meal!
