My daughter, my partner, and I went out for lunch together on the weekend. This time we visited a sushi restaurant on Bongridan-gil in Gimhae.

The place was clean and the food came out beautifully plated, so I liked it from the first impression. The three of us ordered a salmon belly sushi set, a kids' set, and a raw sushi set.

We each have slightly different tastes, so it was nice being able to pick the menu each of us wanted.

Walking into Sushi Hwa, the overall feel was really tidy. The tables were well arranged and every dish that came out was neatly plated, making it a great atmosphere for lunch. It felt comfortable enough to sit and eat, which made it fine to visit with a kid too.

While we were eating, delivery orders kept coming in nonstop. Watching the delivery riders come and go, I figured this must be a popular spot in the neighborhood. After eating it myself, I could kind of see why there were so many delivery orders haha.

What I ordered was the salmon belly sushi set. The soft, rich flavor unique to salmon belly melted in my mouth, it was delicious. The salmon on top looked appetizing, and it paired well seasoning-wise with the rice.

My partner ordered Sushi Hwa's raw sushi set. It let you try a variety of different sushi types, a great lineup for anyone who loves sushi.

Each piece of sushi came out neatly, so it looked good and tasted clean too. The fish's texture was solid, and the overall balance with the rice was great.

Above all, since the sushi was arranged so neatly, there was a certain fun in picking each piece to eat one by one.

The kids' set comes with udon too

My daughter ordered the kids' set. It was made up of kid-friendly menu items, which made ordering easy for us too.

And I liked that the set menu let you choose between udon or cold soba (냉모밀, chilled buckwheat noodles). My daughter and I picked udon, and my partner went with cold soba.

The udon's warm broth was delicious, really great to eat alongside the sushi. The noodles were chewy too, and my daughter ate it right up.

I also tried a bite of the cold soba my partner ordered, and it was refreshing and clean, delicious. I liked having the option to pick between warm udon and cold soba depending on the weather or your mood.

Why Sushi Hwa works for a family lunch

With each of us ordering the sushi set we wanted and eating the udon and cold soba together too, we ended up more full than expected. Especially when going to a sushi restaurant with a kid, sometimes there's no proper kids' menu, so having the kids' set here was convenient.
