In short
Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is a 24-hour yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) and seolleongtang (ox bone soup) restaurant on Roanoke-ro in Wonju, Gangwon. We had a family trip event in Wonju, Gangwon, and arrived super early in the morning, so we stopped by a 24-hour restaurant — Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom, a spot recommended by Wonju City Hall for yukgaejang (spicy shredded beef soup). We ordered brisket seolleongtang (milky beef bone soup), yukgaejang, hanbang bossam (herbal boiled pork), and seokswoe bulgogi (grilled marinated beef) — the portions and flavor were both amazing.

Looking for a Wonju restaurant open at 8am
We arrived in Wonju at 8am. Wonju, Gangwon, is close to Seoul, so with 17-month-old Hajun in tow, we went looking for a place open that early — and landed on Yukdaejang, the yukgaejang spot recommended by Wonju City Hall.

This place isn't just nominally 24-hour — it really operates all day, every day. And even so, customers kept streaming in nonstop. After eating there, I totally understood why.

There's an open lot in front with bench tables, so you can relax with a coffee after your meal. Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom, a certified model restaurant, is a solid choice to bring parents and kids alike.

We booked through Naver Reservation before visiting. It's open 24 hours, but we reserved just in case — and sure enough, even in the morning the place was packed, confirming it's a real local favorite.

What we ordered, and what it cost
- Traditional yukgaejang ₩12,000
- Brisket seolleongtang ₩11,000
- Bossam platter ₩16,000
- Seokswoe bulgogi ₩15,000
We ordered generously even with a 17-month-old in tow — but honestly, this place makes you want to order a lot. The meat dishes especially are outrageously generous. The hanbang suyuk (herbal boiled pork) and seokswoe bulgogi both came in thick, hefty cuts — clearly a restaurant that doesn't skimp.

Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom, a favorite guk-bap spot in Wonju, is especially popular with military families. I spotted several soldiers while I was there — and being the mom of a son myself, I found myself briefly imagining him in uniform someday, over breakfast of all things.
Seokswoe bulgogi: smoky char and balanced marinade
The seokswoe bulgogi had a great smoky char, and the seasoning ratio was spot-on. It was delicious wrapped in garlic and lettuce, or just piled on plain rice. Even at ₩15,000, the meat portion was generous and we enjoyed it fully.
Old-style traditional yukgaejang
Here comes the highlight — the traditional yukgaejang. It was so generously packed with meat. Full of hearty ingredients, we kept scooping spoonful after spoonful. The deep, rich beef bone broth base made it incredibly tasty.

The brisket seolleongtang our baby loved
We ordered seolleongtang, which 17-month-old Hajun loves. It was packed full of brisket meat, and the broth was excellent too. We added plenty of chopped green onion to make it even tastier. Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is a great place to enjoy a variety of dishes with kids.

Why the hanbang bossam won me over
Now, the hanbang bossam — I was completely won over. I've had plenty of bossam and suyuk at various restaurants, but Yukdaejang's hanbang bossam had such thick, hefty slices of meat. Maybe because it's popular with soldiers, but every dish here felt incredibly generous.
You can eat the bossam with their house-made makjang (soybean paste dip) and salted shrimp, wrapped with bossam kimchi, or wrapped with the seasoned chives.
Hajun must have been hungry from the early morning drive, because he ate so well. He tried a bit of everything — seolleongtang, bossam, and bulgogi — and as parents, that made for a really satisfying meal.

Instant mix coffee on the bench outside
We brewed a cup of mix coffee at the table out front and sat with the baby soaking up the morning sun, chatting away — my spouse loved it too, saying it was such a satisfying meal.

After that, we went to Wonju's indoor playground Nolbisup and ran around for an hour and a half, then headed over to Wonju Oak Valley. If you're looking for a solid breakfast spot in Wonju, give Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom a try.
