Weekend afternoon egg tart at Bakerist Brown, a Gangnam café

In short

Bakerist Brown is a large bakery café spanning basement to third floor between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. Visiting on a weekend afternoon with a friend, the writer ordered iced americano, salt cream coffee, a Gangnam Sand set (8 pieces), and an egg tart, with the egg tart standing out for its pastry-and-filling balance. Seats are spaced generously for conversation, though parking isn't available.

The full building exterior and outdoor seats

The moment I saw Bakerist Brown, I was surprised a café this big even existed near Gangnam Station. It's a whole building from basement to third floor, so it looks huge even at a glance!

There were seats outside too, and with the weather getting cooler, sitting outside to eat looked like a nice option.

Interior mood and seating — was it easy to talk?

The interior overall has a white-and-wood tone that felt clean yet warm,

and even though it was packed with people, as you'd expect from a well-known bakery near Gangnam Station, the seats were spaced far enough apart that we had zero trouble talking!

They also have 2-person, 4-person, and group tables, so it'd work fine for a date or a gathering without feeling cramped at all!

Bread & drink menu — this many kinds of salt bread

Bread varieties displayed at Bakerist Brown

Since I visited around 3pm on a weekend, a lot of the bread had already sold out — which makes sense given this place is also famous for its salt bread near Gangnam Station. Still, the variety of salt bread was really impressive.

  • Basic salt bread
  • Mentaiko (pollock roe) salt bread
  • Melon salt bread
  • Chocolate kataifi wakku salt bread
  • Fig wakku salt bread
  • Blueberry yogurt wakku salt bread
  • Crème brûlée salt bread

If you love salt bread, you'll be happy with how many options there are.

The sandwich menu also has plenty of flavors to pick from based on your taste, and the Gangnam Sand set itself looked like a nice option for a gift too, haha.

The drink menu was varied too — coffee, ades, and teas — and they even sell mango bingsu (shaved ice dessert)!

Our order — americano, salt cream coffee, Gangnam Sand set, and egg tart — arrived!!

Iced Americano

I started with the iced americano — the acidity was just right and it had a clean flavor that wasn't too heavy to pair with bread! An americano seems essential when eating something sweet or soft.

Salt Cream Coffee

Next up was the menu I'd been curious about — the salt milk coffee. The salty cream and soft milk cream combined into this fluffy, salty-yet-soft texture that was surprising, and mixing it into the coffee brought the flavors together nicely, adding a subtle salty note that made it a genuinely different kind of drink!

The Gangnam Sand set was also easy to pair with coffee, picking one of each flavor. Nothing was too hard or dry — everything felt soft overall, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

The popular egg tart

Egg Tart

The egg tart was labeled as a best-seller, and it's clearly a popular item at Bakerist Brown — the pastry outside and soft filling inside balanced really well, and one bite gave that soft, moist feeling I love. You could taste the savory, clean flavor of the egg, and the filling was so smooth that I'd genuinely recommend this egg tart!

Final thoughts

There are so many cafés near Gangnam Station, but finding one where you can also enjoy genuinely good bread isn't as easy. I liked that Bakerist Brown lets you enjoy coffee and quality bakery items together!

If you have plans near Gangnam Station or you're looking for a café around Sinnonhyeon Station, I'd recommend Bakerist Brown — it's spacious and lets you take care of bread and drinks in one stop. Whether you're after a bakery near Sinnonhyeon Station or a bakery near Gangnam Station, this is an easily accessible bakery café worth recommending.
