Walking inside, the place felt spacious and clean overall. The tables weren't cramped together, and there was seating suited for larger groups, which worked well for a family visit. With 6-person tables, 8-person group seating, and a private room, it looked good for birthday meals, family gatherings, or work dinners with a bigger headcount. There's also a baby chair and a waiting area, making it comfortable to visit with kids.

How was the hwangchil wanggalbi for three?
We started by ordering three servings of hwangchil wanggalbi. As the ribs cooked on the grill, the sweetish marinade aroma rose up and got the appetite going, and we cut them into bite-sized pieces and grilled them slowly. The meat wasn't tough — it was on the tender side — and the marinade wasn't overly sharp, so it went well with rice too.
Self-serve side dish bar and free seonji doenjang guk
The side dishes were nice to try one by one too. There's a separate side dish self-bar, so you could grab more of whatever sauce or side you were running low on without feeling awkward about it. Taking just enough rather than piling on a big helping at once kept the table looking tidy throughout the meal. Switching up the sides while eating the ribs made the galbi's flavor come through differently too. (There was even ganjang gejang — soy-marinated crab!)
The ox blood soybean paste soup, loaded with big chunks of ox blood, is served free when you order meat! (Amazing.)
About one serving in, you start to understand why the galbi here is so popular. Sweet marinated ribs usually get sickening after a while, but I could eat all three servings without getting tired of the flavor at all.
Finishing with nurungji and naengmyeon
Partway through the meal, we ordered nurungji (scorched rice soup). It had a warm, nutty flavor that felt like it settled the palate after all that marinated meat. It's an especially good side dish to order if you're visiting with kids.
Lastly, we had naengmyeon (cold noodles) together. The cold, refreshing broth and chewy noodles paired well with the ribs, and adding a piece of meat to the noodles made for a great combination. Finishing off the galbi with naengmyeon felt like this restaurant's signature pleasure.

Najumyeonok Gwacheon Branch wasn't the type of place where you eat the meat quickly and leave — it was better suited for taking your time with the side dishes and full menu. The spacious, comfortable interior, the self-serve side dish corner, and the group and private room seating made it especially well-suited for family meals and gatherings. If you're near Gwacheon Government Complex Station looking to eat galbi and naengmyeon together, or want a Korean restaurant with parking, it's worth a visit.
