Seongsu Korean restaurant for solo budae jjigae: Songtan Jindaegwang

In short

Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch is a budae jjigae restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul. I had a two-person budae jjigae with assorted sausages and fried sundae, plus unlimited rice and yogurt and slush desserts. A comfortable, filling stop for solo or group meals.

A budae jjigae restaurant close to Seongsu Station Exit 1

This is Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch. It is in the building you see as soon as you come out of Exit 1, so it takes less than a minute! Seriously, such an incredibly station-adjacent spot,, 🔥🔥 The parking lot in front of the building is fairly spacious too, so driving is no problem.

This is what the exterior looks like. The entrance appears when you turn right, facing the parking lot! The standing budae jjigae sign makes it easy to find, and be sure to look for the second-floor sign.

Head up the building stairs with the budae jjigae posters, and you will find this retro-feeling restaurant entrance!

A spacious interior for solo and group meals

Here is the inside of the restaurant. It was so spacious and pleasant! There are lots of seats farther in as well, so it is perfectly suited to enjoying a meal as a group. There are also solo seats, so budae jjigae lovers can absolutely dine alone too 👍🏼

One-serving budae jjigae and side dishes

Here is the menu. As you would expect from a great budae jjigae spot, budae jjigae is the entire main menu! There are all kinds of add-ins and sides, including fried sundae (Korean blood sausage) and pork cutlet. You can order budae jjigae starting from one serving too, so solo dining is completely possible‼️

The basic table setting comes with fish cake, pickled onions, and green-onion kimchi. The utensils were packaged like that too, which felt extra hygienic! I ordered budae jjigae with assorted sausages, added ramen, and fried sundae ✔️

The budae jjigae comes out like this! It arrives with the lid on, and they set a timer for you while you wait—but from that moment, it smelled seriously delicious,, 😵💫😵💫

Then when the timer goes off, open the lid,, 👀 Look at all those sausages in the budae jjigae..!! Since I added assorted sausages, I could barely tell whether this was stir-fried sausage or budae jjigae,, they really piled them in ♥️

Even as I stirred it around, sausages kept appearing,, 💗 I eat budae jjigae for the sausages, so I was really happy with the portion haha.

No matter how you scoop it, it is a sausage party,, If you love sausages, definitely add the extra topping!! It would probably be plentiful even without it, but once you add it, there is an unbelievable amount.

And these were not cheap sausages—they were premium quality, with such great meaty flavor 🔥🔥

I was curious about the sides too, so I ordered the fried sundae! The fried sundae came generously drizzled with tteok-kkochi sauce, a sweet and spicy Korean rice-cake skewer sauce.

It was crispy, sweet, and spicy—so delicious..!! I recommend ordering it when budae jjigae alone feels a little incomplete!

Unlimited rice refills and a dessert corner

There was also a self-service corner on one side of the restaurant. You can comfortably help yourself to various side dishes and tableware, and the rice has unlimited refills..!! Koreans run on rice, so unlimited rice is the best ✨

And by the entrance, there was this corner..! I have often seen places with free coffee, but this one even had yogurt and slush drinks! They are perfect for freshening your palate after a meal 👍🏼 Such thoughtful service ✨

Do not miss the takeout discount

What is more, Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae gives you 20% off when you get takeout..? It would be so nice to take it home to eat or pick it up for a camping trip!! Do not miss out on the discount 🔥🔥

Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch is right by Seongsu Station! It is easy to reach, while also delivering on flavor and value. The restaurant is pleasant and has no break time, so it seems great to visit anytime! hehe. And budae jjigae places where you can dine alone are not that common—wouldn't this be the ultimate restaurant for budae jjigae lovers like me..? haha
