Inside Gamgol Yeontanjip: mood and seating
The moment you walk in, you get that unmistakable charcoal-grill restaurant vibe. Since you cook the meat yourself right over the grill, just sitting down at the table already got my appetite going!

Plenty of seats, and there was a group table too!

Gamgol Yeontanjip menu and prices
- Gochujang charcoal bulgogi ₩14,500
- Charcoal wang-sogeum pork belly ₩15,900
- Juljuli teungmok-sal (premium pork neck) ₩15,900

I especially recommend the juljuli teungmok-sal!!
Side dishes and the basil pesto sauce at Gamgol Yeontanjip
You get three basic sauces to dip your meat in — sesame oil salt, ssamjang, and basil pesto — and honestly, the basil pesto sauce is a real game changer.

They also bring out shredded scallions, kimchi, and lettuce wraps, and the kimchi here was really tasty! And the water isn't just plain water — it's heotgae tea!!
For any extra side dishes you want, there's a self-serve bar.
How much to order: juljuli teungmok-sal and charcoal wang-sogeum pork belly
I ordered two servings of wang-sogeum pork belly and two of juljuli teungmok-sal! Each order is 150g, so two orders is about one portion.
Each jar held one order! It came so cutely and neatly arranged, it looked great.

With meat like this, that charcoal flavor is everything — grilling it over charcoal gave the surface a golden sear and a smoky aroma that I loved. The clean flavor of the meat blends really well with that distinct charcoal smokiness, so it was great wrapped in lettuce or just dipped lightly in salt.

Grilled over charcoal, it's the kind of flavor that keeps pulling your chopsticks back! Paired with all the side dishes that go with meat, the combination was great. Put a piece on lettuce with ssamjang and some sides, and the savory meat with crunchy vegetables just kept me eating.
The juljuli pork neck in particular was super thick but not chewy at all — completely tender and clean-tasting, it was delicious!!! Totally different from the pork neck I usually eat haha

And of course, no meat restaurant is complete without the charcoal wang-sogeum pork belly! Once you put the pork belly on the charcoal grill, it sizzles away and that savory smell rises up — meat really does taste best grilled this way. The more golden the pork belly gets, the more the savory flavor comes alive, and with that distinct charcoal aroma added in, it was delicious even just dipped in salt.

If you're ordering several meat dishes, the combo of charcoal wang-sogeum pork belly and juljuli teungmok-sal seems like a good call. And make sure to dip it deep into the basil sauce!!
Briquette-shaped fried rice
And this place has a signature — fried rice shaped like a piece of charcoal!! It really is shaped like a briquette, so wild. It comes with kimchi fried rice, flying fish roe, bracken, and egg, and once you mix it all together it's so good haha. Turns out they're great at kimchi fried rice too!!

Grilled capelin full of roe
They also sell a lot of anju (drinking snacks) you can grill over the charcoal! I was curious about the capelin, so I tried it — it comes on skewers for easy eating, and the roe inside was completely full, so it wasn't fishy at all and was savory and delicious.

Omija and maesil slush, and the verdict on Gamgol Yeontanjip
Overall, Gamgol Yeontanjip was a fun Gayang Station meat restaurant where you get to grill everything yourself over real charcoal. From basic pork belly to gochujang charcoal bulgogi and pork neck, there was a good range of choices to suit different tastes, and the side dishes were varied and tasty enough to make the whole meal feel more complete when ordered together!

And they even had a complimentary dessert to finish things off! With the omija and maesil slush dessert, it was the perfect ending at 'Gamgol Yeontanjip.' If you're ever craving pork belly or charcoal grill around Gayang Station, keep Gamgol Yeontanjip Gayang Station Branch in mind.
