Something About Coffee, a place so packed with sweet desserts it's hard to choose just one. A Gangnam Station café that friends and I have gone back to again and again.
Something About Coffee is where my friends and I usually end up when we're hanging out in Gangnam and want a café! I first went because it's such a famous Gangnam Station café, but there were so many kinds of desserts and the coffee and drinks were so good that I kept coming back with friends after that haha.
Where is Something About Coffee? 314m from Sinnonhyeon Station exit 6
Something About Coffee is located in the alley behind the CGV near Gangnam Station. It sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, but it's actually a bit closer to Sinnonhyeon Station exit 6!
Three floors of seating, with ordering on the 2nd floor
The whole building from the 1st to the 3rd floor is used as café space, and you order at the counter on the 2nd floor!
Each floor has a different mix of tables, so it was great for gathering with friends and chatting.
White walls, wooden tables, and chandeliers add up to a warm, slightly vintage mood! The atmosphere changes floor by floor, so it's fun to wander around looking for a seat too~
The downside is that it's crowded every single time I go... Even with seats spread across three floors, I sometimes had to do a full lap to find an empty one. But the fact that I keep coming back anyway says something about why it's so popular haha.
How many desserts does Something About Coffee have?
The first thing that comes to mind with Something About Coffee is definitely the desserts! Just look at this... cakes and baked goods lined up all over the table, an absolute dessert paradise, no exaggeration!!
Each dessert sits on its own plate with the name and price written next to it, so you can walk the table slowly and browse. But the second you try to pick just one, the dessert right next door suddenly looks amazing too...
So you end up circling the table a few times, agonizing. That day, we'd come straight from a meal so I was way too full, which was a shame — if I'd been a little less stuffed I probably would've picked a few more things...! There's everything from cheesecakes and pound cakes to scones, cookies, and other baked goods.
What we ordered at Something About Coffee during fig season
It was fig season that day, so there were several desserts topped with figs too. I love figs normally, so the moment I saw them I had to agonize all over again about which one to get — if you love dessert, you won't be able to walk away from this table easily haha.

Lemon pound cake: moist, not dry
Just look at it... the lemon pound cake was topped with lemon icing and dried lemon, and the hojicha choux milk tea came with ice cream in it.
You usually picture pound cake as a bit dry and dense, right? But this lemon pound cake was soft from the moment the fork went in, and once I tasted it — moist and fluffy! With the bright, sweet lemon icing on top, it went so well with the Americano. I said I was full, but I practically inhaled this one...!
How the black sesame fig cheesecake tasted
I picked the black sesame fig cheesecake because it was fig season. At first I wasn't sure black sesame and fig would go together, but one bite in and I got it immediately.
The black sesame cream is rich and nutty, but with the moist, sweet figs added it never felt too heavy. The figs stayed plump and chewy on their own, and the black sesame stayed nutty on its own — the combination was genuinely delicious!
Hojicha choux milk tea, drink it before the ice cream melts
We were told to eat the hojicha choux milk tea before the ice cream melted.
The toasty aroma of hojicha combined with sweet, soft ice cream felt less like a drink and more like eating another dessert! My friend had more of it than I did, so I didn't get to savor it for long, but I can confirm it disappeared from the table fast haha.
Is Something About Coffee worth a return visit?
It's crowded every time, so finding a seat isn't always easy, but there are so many kinds of desserts that it's a place I keep coming back to whenever I meet friends in Gangnam. From cakes to baked goods, there's something for every taste, and it's fun to see how the lineup changes with the seasons! If you visit during fig season especially, definitely try the nutty black sesame fig cheesecake~
