Kaya butter scone at a 3-floor Gangnam Station café: Something About

I was looking for a café near Gangnam Station and ended up at Something About Coffee. It sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's pretty accessible, but what really stood out was the size — it's a large café spanning three floors. There was also such a wide variety of desserts that I spent a long time deciding what to order the moment I walked in, haha.

I thoroughly enjoyed the fig fresh cream cake, hojicha choux milk tea, black sesame latte, and kaya butter scone haha. Trying each dessert and drink one by one, I understood why so many people come here as a Gangnam Station dessert café. So let's get into my Something About Coffee review!

Where is Something About Coffee near Gangnam Station, and what are the three floors like?

Something About Coffee is easy to reach on foot from Gangnam Station, and it's also accessible from Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's a convenient meeting spot in Gangnam. What especially stood out was that it uses all three floors as café space, giving it that rare large-café feel near Gangnam Station.

When you search for cafes near Gangnam Station, there are plenty of pretty places, but a lot of them end up with cramped seating or tables packed too close together ㅠㅠ. Here, the space is split across multiple floors, so there's a wider range of seating options, which I really liked haha.

It seemed like a good spot for hanging out with friends or taking a break during a Gangnam Station date. Overall, the atmosphere of this large Gangnam café was clean and comfortable.

With the space flowing from the first to the third floor, the scale felt quite large at a glance, and each floor had a variety of seating arranged differently. I really liked having that kind of spatial breathing room at Something About Coffee.

It felt especially good for chatting over desserts with friends or sitting comfortably during a date. If you're looking for a Gangnam Station café with more spacious seating, this one's worth remembering haha.

There was such a wide variety of desserts inside the café that it was fun just to look around. From cakes to baked goods, there were so many options that I spent a long time deciding what to pick.

With so many types of cake, anyone who loves sweet desserts will have a hard time choosing haha. I originally planned to get just one dessert, but ended up picking several. Isn't it kind of a rule that you never just order one dessert at a café? Haha.

Fig fresh cream cake, ₩9,800

First up, the dessert I was most excited about — fig fresh cream cake! Anyone who loves figs simply can't walk past this visual haha. With fresh figs sitting on top, it looked really appetizing.

Taking a bite, the soft fresh cream and the subtle sweetness of the fig went really well together. Figs have a slightly plain yet sweet flavor of their own, so paired with the cream, it wasn't as heavy as I expected.

The cake layer was also moist, making the whole thing pleasant and soft to eat. If you prefer fruit-based fresh cream cakes over heavy, rich chocolate cakes, this one will really suit your taste! It also paired nicely with coffee or a latte haha.

Hojicha choux milk tea, ₩8,500

Next, the hojicha choux milk tea! The name alone sounded nutty and sweet, so I was curious and ordered it. The distinctive toasty, slightly bitter flavor of hojicha (roasted green tea) came through, combined with the smooth taste of milk tea — the balance turned out better than expected.

With its nutty character, it went well alongside dessert. Paired with something soft and sweet like the fig fresh cream cake in particular, the drink's nutty flavor came through even more! If you enjoy sweet drinks but want something a bit different from a regular milk tea, this one's worth picking haha.

Black sesame latte, ₩7,800

And I also ordered my favorite black sesame latte haha. If you love black sesame, there's no skipping this menu item haha. The distinctive nutty, rich flavor of black sesame combined with the smoothness of the latte, and the overall nuttiness really came through well.

This one will especially suit those who enjoy nutty, savory drinks. Paired with dessert in particular, the nutty flavor of the black sesame layered on top, making it feel even more like eating dessert. I personally love this nutty category of drinks, so I enjoyed it a lot haha.

Kaya butter scone, ₩5,300

I also picked out a baked good — the kaya butter scone! Kaya jam and butter together — need I say more haha. The plain, nutty flavor of the scone combined with the distinctive sweetness of kaya (coconut jam) and the soft richness of butter, making it a great match with coffee or a latte.

A scone really has to be enjoyed with a sip of a drink between bites haha. The distinctive sweetness of kaya made it feel richer than eating a plain scone on its own. That wraps up my genuinely satisfying visit to Something About Coffee!
