Where is Haesanggung?

Haesanggung is an octopus dish specialist right next to Eulwangri Beach at 411 Marisan-ro, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon. It's open Monday, Wednesday–Sunday from 10:00 to 21:00 (last order 20:00), and closed every Tuesday.

Today I went to Eulwangri and stopped by Haesanggung, an octopus dish specialist that's a real Yeongjong favorite! It's a well-loved Eulwangri restaurant known for the generous Haesanggung set with octopus stir-fry, whole octopus pancake, seafood kalguksu (noodle soup), and turmeric rice — great for going with parents, and dogs are welcome too! Let's get into it~

Outside the restaurant

Haesanggung, known for its seafood kalguksu, sits right next to Eulwangri Beach in Yeongjong. It's also close to Inspire Entertainment Resort, making it a great weekend spot for families.

It's a dog-friendly restaurant, so pups can come along too! It even won grand prize at the Jung-gu local specialty food competition.

It's already been on TV many times and has hosted plenty of celebrities — a certified Incheon favorite!

Haesanggung's outdoor tables and lawn garden: easy with a dog

Haesanggung has a spacious, clean interior plus outdoor tables, and behind the restaurant there's a grass garden and photo zone where dogs and kids can play. We ate at an outdoor table, and with the weather cooling down it was perfect for eating outside!

Inside Haesanggung

Spacious and clean inside — even though we arrived a bit after lunchtime, it was already packed with people! Since it was the weekend, lots of families were there. If you time it right at mealtime, expect a wait!

Inside there's a self-service corner where you can freely grab extra side dishes.

There's even a guide on how to enjoy the food.

The octopus stir-fry apparently uses no artificial capsaicin at all — it's aged with over ten healthy ingredients like chili powder and garlic in Haesanggung's own recipe, giving it a savory, spicy flavor!

Disposable aprons and dessert coffee are also available.

Haesanggung menu and what comes in the set

The mains are abalone octopus stir-fry, regular octopus stir-fry, whole octopus pancake, and seafood kalguksu, all orderable a la carte, or you can get the Haesanggung set (octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu, whole octopus pancake, turmeric rice) or the Abalone Octopus set (abalone octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu, whole octopus pancake, turmeric rice). We ordered the Haesanggung set.

What we ordered at Haesanggung

They set up small plates, tongs, scissors, and a ladle first.

The basic side dishes came out — bean sprouts for mixing with rice and octopus stir-fry, cabbage salad with a savory dressing, house-made geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), and soy sauce for the whole octopus pancake.

How spicy is Haesanggung's octopus stir-fry?

Haesanggung's octopus stir-fry looks red but isn't too spicy — anyone can eat it. It's not artificially hot and didn't upset the stomach, so it was great to share with my parents too.

The octopus stir-fry is packed with octopus! Chives top the red stir-fry! Plump, large pieces of octopus cooked just right — chewy and tender!

The healthy yellow turmeric rice! It comes in a big bowl — mix in the bean sprouts and octopus stir-fry and you're set!

Crunchy bean sprouts, chewy octopus, and savory sauce — so good!

Review-event somyeon: mix it into the leftover sauce

Haesanggung gives you free somyeon or a drink for writing a receipt review. We got somyeon from the review event and mixed it into the leftover octopus stir-fry sauce after scooping out our rice.

You can mix the somyeon into whatever sauce is left after the rice!

The savory sauce goes so well with the somyeon! Our dog Ppo ate it up happily — you have to try it with somyeon!

Whole-octopus pancake and seafood kalguksu

A whole octopus sits on top of this seafood pancake! Plump shrimp are piled on too!

Crispy like a pastry, this seafood pancake is exactly the kind that makes you crave makgeolli (rice wine)! They actually sell makgeolli, and a lot of people were pairing the two! It's good dipped in soy sauce, but even better in the spicy sauce!

The seafood kalguksu comes in a huge portion! Loaded with shrimp, scallops, mussels, and clams! The broth is refreshing and deep from all the seafood, and it's easy for kids to eat too! The noodles are chewy and springy! The Haesanggung set is meant for two, but honestly it's enough for three — the portions are massive!

Is Haesanggung worth a trip to Eulwangri?

A Yeongjong favorite with spicy, delicious octopus stir-fry, refreshing seafood kalguksu, and crispy whole octopus pancake! Highly recommend the Haesanggung set for its generous portions and great composition! A dog-friendly Eulwangri restaurant, and also a great Incheon spot to visit with parents!
