There's puffed rice snack sitting by the entrance, and my kid spotted it and wanted some right away :) so we grabbed one before heading in haha. When I tried it myself on the way out after eating, I totally got why the kid loved it! Even the puffed rice is a hit here 👍🏻 hahahahaha

Seating inside the Ruwon City branch

Being in Ruwon City, it's a convenient spot to stop by whenever you're looking for an Incheon kodari restaurant for a family meal or a visit with parents nearby. Parking was easy too, since it's free with a meal, which made driving there simple.

What goes into the sauce on Hangsangcharim's braised kodari?

At Hangsangcharim Kodari Myeongga Ruwon City Branch, they say the semi-dried pollock is prepped fresh every morning and simmered in their own house-made sauce. For kodari-jjim, the sauce is what really matters, and here the spicy-sweet sauce soaked well into the pollock, making it great with rice.

₩17,000 kodari meal kit

They also have a kodari meal kit, which seems great for days when eating out isn't easy :) ₩17,000 is such a good deal, right...?

Weekday lunch special: spicy braised pollock, 13,000 won per person

Since we visited on a weekday, we ordered the weekday lunch special spicy pollock stew. It's a lunch-only menu available until 3pm, orderable for 2 or more people, priced at ₩13,000 per person, which felt reasonable for a lunch meal. You can also add stone pot rice for ₩3,000, plain rice for ₩1,000, or siraegi for ₩5,000, so feel free to customize to your taste.

This is just my personal preference, but definitely add the siraegi... this combo is seriously the best 🤩

How thick is the kodari, and how spicy is it?

When our spicy pollock stew arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was that appetizing red sauce. The pollock came in generous chunks, and the staff even deboned it for us to make eating easier, with plenty of sauce that was great mixed into rice. The pollock flesh had that thick, chewy texture unique to semi-dried fish. The sauce wasn't just coating the surface — the sweet-spicy flavor blended naturally into the meat itself. I also appreciated that it wasn't overwhelmingly spicy for the sake of being spicy.

Pollock flesh and sauce placed on top of rice

Picking off a piece of pollock, placing it on rice, and topping it with a bit of sauce — this really is a rice-thief of a dish. Mixing in the neatly arranged banchan along the way made the meal feel much more varied than just eating one dish.

Lunch spread with thick pollock flesh and side dishes

Personally, when I'm looking for an Incheon kodari restaurant, I care about the flesh and the sauce flavor. Here, the thick pollock flesh combined with the sweet-spicy sauce naturally made me want another bowl of rice.

Is Hangsangcharim good for a meal with kids or parents?

True to the name 'hangsangcharim' (full table setting), it felt less like eating the kodari stew alone and more like a proper meal set up with banchan and rice together. Being a Korean menu, it suits meals with parents well, and it's also a good option for anyone looking for a mild, non-overwhelming Korean rice restaurant.
