I went to Gangneung and really wanted sashimi, so I headed to Jumunjin Fish Market! I looked it up and the reviews were so good that I visited 'Ilchul Hoetjip' — here's my review! I'd recommend it for the good prices, great quality, and wide range of seafood you can get to go.

How to walk from Jumunjin Coastal Parking Tower to Ilchul Hoetjip
You can park at Jumunjin Coastal Parking Tower for Ilchul Hoetjip. When I visited there were plenty of spots, and since I only did a takeout pickup, it cost just ₩600. It's less than a 3-minute walk to Ilchul Hoetjip~
Cross the street from the parking tower and you're right at Jumunjin Fish Market!
Head in this way and it's the 4th or 5th shop on the right. It's right at the entrance of the fish market so it was easy to find. Ilchul Hoetjip on the right!
Since I'd booked a pickup and arrived on time, I could grab it right away. I'd recommend reserving ahead to match your arrival time!

Ilchul Hoetjip! The restaurant is huge.
Turns out Ilchul Hoetjip is known as a king crab spot in Jumunjin~ Just looking at them, they were huge and in great condition. I'll have to try the king crab next time haha.
True to being a solid sashimi restaurant in Jumunjin, there was a wide variety of other seafood besides king crab too~!
Inside Ilchul Hoetjip: what you get with no table-setting fee
Ilchul Hoetjip does takeout, but you can also eat inside. The interior was pretty spacious and clean. It's apparently been on TV a lot too, which made me even more excited haha.
Most places charge a separate table-setting fee, but Ilchul Hoetjip apparently doesn't charge one. On top of that, they serve seafood (sea squirt, whelk, steamed shrimp), grilled fish, fried food, seaweed soup, and fried rice or ramyeon in generous portions — no reason not to visit! And the sashimi is only ₩40,000... that's really cheap.
For takeout, they also throw in seafood (abalone + sea squirt + whelk + steamed shrimp), spicy fish stew, wrapping greens (lettuce, peppers, garlic), and sauces (ssamjang, sesame oil sauce, chogochujang, wasabi) as freebies! If you're looking for a sashimi restaurant at Jumunjin Fish Market, I highly recommend Ilchul Hoetjip.

I ordered the Ilchul Special Assorted Sashimi (for 2-3 people) after booking a pickup reservation~ Arriving right on time, it was already prepared for me! Packed it up and headed back to the stay.

Drinks to go with it, ready too-! I stopped by a convenience store and picked something that looked good, and it went really well with the sashimi. Highly recommend.
It's meant for 2-3 people but the amount of sashimi looked huge just from looking at it. Would be plenty even for just two people!
The sashimi was glossy and had beautiful color haha. True to a solid sashimi restaurant in Jumunjin, it was super fresh and high quality.
The halibut and other in-season sashimi were fresh, chewy, and so delicious.

The seafood was fresh and good too.
Especially the sea squirt! I usually can't eat it because it's too fishy for me, but this was delicious~ The whelk was super chewy and the abalone was really tasty too.
The lettuce was fresh too. I heard lettuce prices are through the roof these days... and there was plenty of it!
There was a good variety of sauces too, and I liked that there was plenty of chogochujang and wasabi haha.
It was so good~! I'll have to visit again next time I'm in Gangneung.

'Ilchul Hoetjip,' the king crab and sashimi spot in Jumunjin, Gangneung. There are so many sashimi restaurants at Jumunjin Fish Market that if you're stuck on which one to pick, I recommend visiting 'Ilchul Hoetjip'~!! With its wide variety of fresh, generous seafood, you can enjoy quality seafood at a reasonable price.
