Inside Saimdang Bueok: a group room seating about 40

Tables are set up for four people, and further inside there are wide seating areas designed for group guests. The group hall can hold about 40 people, which is great for larger parties!! Since it's run together with the neighboring restaurant, pressing the staff call bell brings over whichever staff member is available, which can be a little inconvenient, but it also means you can eat comfortably. You need to pay at the counter of the neighboring restaurant.

If you book through Naver, they prepare the basic table setting in advance! The side dishes are set out first, and there are so many you'll wonder how it's possible — the table comes completely full.

Butter-grilled scallops included in the table setting

The side dishes even include butter-grilled scallops, so getting all this for just ₩19,000 per person is such a treat..!! A hanjeongsik restaurant near Ojukheon where you can eat land, sea, and sky.

Chodang sundubu or miyeok-guk: which soup to choose

Bowl of Chodang sundubu chosen as the soup

I went back and forth between miyeok-guk and Chodang sundubu, and settled on the sundubu — its savory flavor really hit the spot. It was even more savory than the sundubu I've had in Chodang Sundubu Village, so I'd recommend it!

The main dishes: grilled fish and stir-fried pork

The main dishes were grilled fish and stir-fried pork. The table is already packed with 12 side dishes, and having two main dishes on top of that made it feel like great value for money. Over in Jumunjin or Gangneung, grilled fish alone can run you ₩40,000... and here you get pork too! Total bang-for-your-buck restaurant!

Who is Saimdang Bueok best for?

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Ojukheon, I'd recommend Saimdang Bueok! It's a good spot for a family group meal, so if you're traveling to Gangneung with family and looking for a Korean restaurant, give Saimdang Bueok a try. It's affordable enough that I'd happily come back again — a place I'd call a proven hanjeongsik restaurant near Ojukheon in Gangneung. The meal even finishes with chrysanthemum tea, rounding off a satisfying meal.
