Songdo dak kalguksu restaurant with 2-hour parking validation: Eonyang

In short

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Incheon Songdo Branch is a chicken kalguksu (chicken noodle soup) restaurant in the Songdo 1-gonggu study district in Yeonsu, Incheon, across from a grocery supply mart. On a weekend lunch the writer parked in the building's basement lot and got up to 2 hours of parking registered, then ordered two chicken kalguksu and one plate of chewy dumplings; the perilla-seed broth bowl with half a chicken took about 15 minutes because the noodles are aged. Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch is an easy pick for a hot Korean lunch in Songdo when you drive.

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch, a chicken kalguksu spot in Songdo 1-gonggu

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch is a Korean restaurant specializing in chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) near the study district of Songdo 1-gonggu in Incheon. The weather's gotten a little cooler lately, so hot food kept coming to mind when picking a menu. This weekend I visited Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch in Songdo :)

The broth was richer and the portion more generous than I expected, so it made for a really filling meal. Especially on a day when you're craving hot soup, this is a Songdo, Incheon restaurant I'd recommend!! If you're looking for a lunch spot, this is one to check out.

It's near the study district of Songdo 1-gonggu, right across from a grocery supply mart, so it's easy to find.

Where do you park? Up to 2 hours registered in the basement lot

There's a parking lot entrance to the right of Eonyang Dak Kalguksu ₍ᐢ..ᐢ₎₊˚ෆ I parked in the building's basement lot! They registered my parking for up to 2 hours, so I could eat comfortably. Whenever I hang out in Songdo I always bring the car, so having a spacious, easy parking lot really matters — having a basement lot made it convenient to visit by car 🤍

There's also spicy braised chicken, soy braised chicken, boiled pork, and more! My workplace is in Songdo so I've had the braised chicken before (also delicious!!!), so this time I ordered two of the signature chicken kalguksu plus one chewy dumplings 🥟

Interior of the restaurant busy with weekend lunch guests

Maybe because it was a weekend lunch, there were quite a lot of people! Confirmed good restaurant 👍🍀

Two kinds of kimchi at the self-serve bar

There's a self-serve bar on one side of Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songdo Branch, where you can take as much kimchi and pickled radish as you like. The plus is there are two kinds — spicy and mild — so you can pick to your taste. And honestly both kinds are delicious.. no matter how good the kalguksu is, if the kimchi's bad, it's all for nothing.

Two kinds of kimchi, mild and spicy
Geotjeori kimchi served on a plate

They apparently make fresh geotjeori (lightly-tossed kimchi) every morning with domestic napa cabbage! The kimchi is on the spicier side, but it paired really well eaten with the chicken kalguksu. The spicy kimchi was a bit much for me >< but it had a charm of its own.

I think kimchi matters a lot at a kalguksu place. Kimchi, here's your passing grade medal first.

One bowl of chicken kalguksu: 15 minutes for aged noodles

Eonyang Dak Kalguksu's chicken kalguksu doesn't come out right after ordering — they use aged noodles, so cooking takes about 15 minutes. Because of the aged noodles, they were noticeably thicker than regular kalguksu noodles and had a chewy bite! Even with the short wait, since it's cooked after you order, it's actually nice to eat it piping hot 🤍

Perilla broth kalguksu with half a chicken

The chicken kalguksu finally arrived!🐤 I was surprised at the sheer size of the bowl right away! It came with a generous chunk of half a chicken, so the portion was hugely filling. The noodles were plentiful too, definitely feeling like more than one serving. Noodles and chicken that just don't seem to run out no matter how much you eat 👍🤍

The broth is chicken bone-based with ground perilla seed mixed in, giving it a milky, rich style! But it's not overly thick or heavy — it's a nutty, warm-going-down broth that kept pulling my spoon back in.

Chewy dumplings on the side: more than enough for two

🥟 Chewy dumplings ₩6,000. And the chewy dumplings I ordered as a side! I felt kalguksu alone might be a little lacking so I ordered these too — they came out generously on one plate, more than enough for two to share. Both the kalguksu and the dumplings seem to come in really generous portions!

True to the name, the dumpling skin is on the chewy side, and a bite of chicken kalguksu broth followed by a dumpling is just the right combo 🤍 The kalguksu alone is plenty, but if there are two or more of you, I'd recommend adding an order of dumplings too.
