Italian restaurant near Nonhyeon Station: brisket pilaf at Pasta Trio

In short

Pasta Trio is an Italian restaurant in an alley near Exit 5 of Nonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. Two of us shared the signature shrimp oil pasta and the beef brisket pilaf, and the clean oil pasta and nutty brisket rice never overlapped in flavor, so neither dish got tiring. If you don't want to choose between pasta and rice near Nonhyeon Station, this is the combination to order at Pasta Trio.

Why we chose Pasta Trio for a meet-up near Nonhyeon Station

On a day I had plans near Nonhyeon Station, I was craving pasta for once instead of Korean food or meat, so I looked up Pasta Trio. The name itself sounded properly pasta-focused, so I spent a while deciding what to order and ended up going with the signature shrimp oil pasta and a beef brisket pilaf. One was a light oil pasta, the other a hearty rice dish, so the combo worked great together, and since there were two of us, it was perfect for sharing. If you're looking for a spot near Nonhyeon Station for a date or a meal with friends and don't want to give up either pasta or rice, ordering this way isn't a bad idea haha

The Nonhyeon-dong area has so many restaurants that it can actually be hard to choose, but on a day like this when I clearly wanted pasta, the options narrow down fast. The vibe wasn't too formal either, more like a comfortable place to eat, so it was an easy pick as a spot near Nonhyeon Station to grab a meal with a friend too.

Coming in from the alley near Nonhyeon Station, Pasta Trio's exterior caught my eye. Rather than a big flashy restaurant on the main street, it had this cute, tucked-away Italian restaurant feel, so the first impression wasn't intimidating at all. There's also an outdoor terrace space right in front, which looked great for eating outside on a nice day. It's close to Nonhyeon Station Exit 5, so it wasn't hard to find even on my first visit, and the exterior blending into the alley's atmosphere really set the mood for a date. Ordering at Pasta Trio: one pasta, one rice dish

Looking through the menu, there was a nice variety of pasta, so it was fun choosing based on preference. Some people like it thick and rich like cream sauce, others prefer something cleaner like tomato or oil. That day I was craving something that wasn't heavy but let the ingredients' flavor come through, so I picked the signature shrimp oil pasta. And rather than ordering two pastas, I wanted to try something else too, so I added the beef brisket pilaf — and it turned out to be a combo I really liked. Taking a bite of the oil pasta, then a bite of the savory pilaf, the flavors kept alternating, so I never got tired of it by the end.

What does Pasta Trio's signature shrimp oil pasta taste like?

First up was the signature shrimp oil pasta I'd been looking forward to. The shrimp arranged nicely on the plate caught my eye right away, and the noodles were evenly coated in oil, glossy all over. Oil pasta can sometimes taste too greasy, or fall flat if underseasoned, but this dish balanced well with the shrimp. The plump texture of the shrimp paired with the noodles made for satisfying chewing, and the savory flavor of the oil carried through naturally.

Above all, unlike a cream sauce that sits heavy, my fork kept going back for more. If you like shrimp and prefer a clean oil pasta, this is the dish to check out first at Pasta Trio. It's great to order one and share between two people, and it worked well when I wanted something not too heavy for a date. I ordered it curious why it was called the signature dish, and honestly, out of the two menus that day, this was the one with the strongest first impression!!

Beef brisket pilaf: the filling rice dish at Pasta Trio

If the signature shrimp oil pasta was on the lighter side, the beef brisket pilaf was clearly in charge of heartiness. Eating the rice and beef brisket together, the brisket's distinct savory richness came through from the first bite. Brisket pairs so well with rice that it filled in the fullness that pasta alone might leave you wanting. The seasoning and ingredients mixed evenly through the rice, so it wasn't bland even on its own, and layering brisket on top made the flavor even richer.

Is the shrimp oil pasta and brisket pilaf combo worth it?

What I liked most about the signature shrimp oil pasta and beef brisket pilaf at Pasta Trio this time was that the flavors never overlapped. Enjoying the plump texture of the shrimp and the richness of the oil, then moving on to the savory brisket and rice, made me feel like I'd properly enjoyed two different dishes. If you're looking for a restaurant near Nonhyeon Station for a date or a meal with friends that's easy-going rather than a heavy course meal, Pasta Trio is worth remembering. If you love shrimp, start with the signature shrimp oil pasta, and if you can't give up rice either, order the beef brisket pilaf alongside it. Next time I'd like to add another type of pasta and share a few more dishes~~
