Hi everyone •• I've brought you a genuinely delicious Chinese restaurant in Wirye! Here it is — Jjampponggwan Wirye ദ്ദി(˘̩̩̩ᴗ˘̩̩̩ ) 🫧

I hadn't had Chinese food in a while, so I came out for it after some time ㅎ.ㅎ There's a banner in front of the door showing the menu, so I checked it out before heading in!

Inside Jjampponggwan Wirye Branch: window seats for solo diners

Jjampponggwan Wirye Branch isn't huge, but the interior is clean and tidy. There's also a separate window seat for solo diners.

(The photo's a bit cropped since I tried to shoot without people in it ㅜ.ㅜ) The place itself wasn't super spacious, but it felt so clean and neat inside that I really liked it!

There's also a spot for solo dining, and the glass in front is blurred(?) so you won't have to make any awkward eye contact with people outside! ദ്ദി⸝⸝•̀֊•́⸝⸝)

Free rice, free drinks and aprons at Jjampponggwan

At Jjampponggwan Wirye Branch, rice is free and drinks are free too. (That's amazing, honestly ;;)

One thing I loved about Jjamppong Wirye was that you can choose a spice level for every dish!

Seafood tray jjajangmyeon, 13,000 won: big shrimp, never heavy

The seafood tray jjajangmyeon (해물쟁반짜장) at Jjampponggwan Wirye Branch is ₩13,000. Since this place is literally named for jjamppong, I didn't expect much from the jjajangmyeon, but the visual is amazing •• look at that color (b˙◁˙ )b

When the jjajangmyeon first arrived, a delicious smell wafted up · ₊ ⊹ The shrimp were big, and the ratio of sauce to noodles, plus how well-cooked the noodles were, was just right!

Honestly, whenever I eat Chinese food, I'm always Team Jjamppong, you know? I ordered jjajangmyeon for the first time in a while and took a bite — it was so shockingly delicious that •• I was a little stunned. It was a jjajangmyeon that never got sickening at all ദ്ദി⸝⸝•̀֊•́⸝⸝) Eating the shrimp and noodles together in one bite was heavenly •• 🪽

Chashu jjamppong, 13,000 won: clean broth and smoky pork

Chashu jjamppong is also ₩13,000. I'd had chadol jjamppong and sundubu jjamppong before, but never chashu jjamppong, so I gave it a try!

First off, the chashu jjamppong at Jjamppong Wirye surprised me the moment I got it, with its size •• ! I have a pretty big appetite, but even so, isn't this really generous?

This chashu jjamppong broth was insane ദ്ദി(˘̩̩̩ᴗ˘̩̩̩ ) The bean sprout aroma was so good, and the broth was super refreshing! Also, I usually don't eat meat that's been sitting in broth much because it can feel greasy, but the smoky char on the meat was so good that it wasn't greasy at all! And the meat wasn't too thin or too thick, so it was really easy to eat! ₍₍ (ง* ॑꒳ ॑*)ว ⁾⁾

Condensed milk flower buns, 4,000 won: a side that eats like dessert

The condensed milk flower bread, small (3 pieces), is ₩4,000. Jjamppong Wirye had a menu item called condensed milk flower bread, and I was curious what it could possibly taste like, so I ordered it!

I ordered the 3-piece condensed milk flower bread as a side! The size was just right, perfect for a side dish! Dip it generously into the condensed milk drizzled underneath and you're good to go 🫧

This felt more like dessert than a meal! Personally, I think it'd pair really well with coffee (?) If you order delivery from Jjamppong Wirye, have it with coffee · ₊ ⊹

Jjamppong or jjajangmyeon at Jjampponggwan? The verdict

Finished the whole meal successfully ☆ Officially a solid Chinese restaurant in Wirye •• Before I knew it, I'd cleaned every last bit ㅎ.ㅎ !

I'm normally Team Jjamppong, but at Jjamppong Wirye, both were so delicious that I honestly can't choose between jjamppong and jjajangmyeon •• (´•⩊•̥`) Just get jjamjjamyeon (half and half) — that's the real answer •• !!

Anyway, I ate so well, so I highly recommend Jjamppong Wirye as a top Chinese restaurant pick 🩵 I'll definitely come back again next time!!!
