There were big signs reading things like "cheaper than samgyeopsal (pork belly)" and "real Prime-grade beef used." It really shows their confidence in both quality and price.

They say they only use Prime-grade beef, the top 3% of American beef, so I was curious how it would taste. It's open daily from 3pm to midnight, so there's plenty of flexibility to visit.

Self-bar and basic side dishes

Here's the self-bar. Lettuce, scallion strips, pickled radish, kimchi and various sauces and basic side dishes are neatly laid out so you can take as much as you need.

The weather was nice so they opened the windows. The side dishes were simple, meant to go alongside the meat, which actually lets you focus on the beef itself — I liked that.

What we ordered

Looking at the menu, there was a good range: pork platter, beef platter, chadolbagi (thinly sliced beef brisket), special platter and more. We ordered the 1kg beef platter, and for the meal course added cold buckwheat noodles and cubed kimchi fried rice.

1kg beef platter

1kg beef platter with rising dry ice smoke

The presentation alone was impressive. With dry ice smoke rising, the color of the meat looked even more vivid and fresh. The platter came with a mix of cuts: flower shrimp cut, chuck flap and neck chain.

Once the meat hit the grill, that savory sizzle started. The heat was strong enough to sear the outside golden while keeping the inside juicy.

Beef searing golden brown on the grill

We grilled several different cuts one by one. My husband kept praising it, saying it was as good as Korean hanwoo beef and that it had been a while since he'd had beef this delicious.

My husband was grilling everything so nicely. Thanks to him, I got to savor the flavors while sneaking bites beside him, haha. Thanks, honey~♡

Dipping the first bite lightly in salt, it was tender with no gamy smell and had an excellent, clean flavor. Topped with pickled vegetables or fresh wasabi, it cut through the richness nicely, so we enjoyed it a few different ways.

Cubed kimchi fried rice served in a stone bowl

Cubed kimchi fried rice and cold buckwheat noodles

The cubed kimchi fried rice came out in a stone bowl and stayed warm until the end of the meal, which I really liked. The crunchy diced kimchi in the seasoning combined with the savory gim (dried seaweed) flakes made it a great treat after the meat.

Bowl of cold buckwheat noodles with ice slivers

The cold buckwheat noodles came with tiny ice slivers floating in a rich broth, and the chewy noodles with the cool, tangy broth paired perfectly with the beef.

Final thoughts

Overall, it was a satisfying meal — a generous platter of top-grade Prime beef at a reasonable price. The quality of the meat was great, and the side dishes, from the cubed fried rice to the cold noodles, rounded things out really well. I'd recommend this to anyone near Yeongtong District Office looking to enjoy good beef for a gathering or company dinner without breaking the bank. The meat quality was so good that we already said we'd come back again.
