Why Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang in Yongsan for dinner near Hyochang Park Station?
I was looking for a pork cutlet spot near Hyochang Park Station for dinner in Yongsan and ended up at Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch. You can spot it as a cutlet specialty restaurant from a distance just by the exterior. Even as we were nearly finishing our meal, local residents kept coming in. Customers didn't stop right up until closing, so it seemed like this place is already a neighborhood favorite haha.

Inside Onjeong: solo counter seats and family tables
The restaurant is on the cozy side. There are table seats plus solo dining seats by the window, and I saw plenty of people eating alone as well as families with kids. It would also work well if you're looking for a solo lunch spot in Yongsan nearby. The place isn't big, but as soon as one group left another came right in — it stayed busy the whole time,,, The staff were really friendly too, which made the meal even more pleasant!

Ordering at the kiosk and what's on Onjeong's menu
You order at the kiosk near the entrance. You can pick from photos of each menu, so just choose quickly and grab a seat!

From the signature classic pork cutlet (gyeongyangsik donkatsu) to spicy cutlet, cheddar cheese cutlet, and curry cutlet, the menu had quite a variety. There were also sets where you can pair a cutlet with udon or memil (buckwheat noodles). We ordered the 'addictively spicy and crispy' spicy pork cutlet, and a set of one classic pork cutlet with udon.
Onjeong uses 100% handmade Korean pork cutlets and makes its own sauces in-house too. I'd read that everything is prepared with care every day, and after actually eating it, I got why they say that!
All of our pork cutlets and sauces are handmade daily with care.

What comes in the classic pork cutlet and udon set
After a short wait, our order arrived! A big cutlet plus udon, rice, salad, and bread filled the tray — really generous. It's the kind of nostalgic classic cutlet spread I used to eat with family back in the day haha.

First up is the classic pork cutlet ordered with the udon. A generous amount of homemade sauce covered the big cutlet. Alongside came rice, cabbage salad, corn, and dinner rolls. Just looking at the spread felt like a meal Mom lovingly put together at home, and it tasted that way too haha — packed with handmade flavor.

A warm soup, essential to any classic cutlet meal, came with it too. It had a slightly thick texture, nice for a spoonful or two before digging into the cutlet. This kind of touch really brought back the feel of old-school gyeongyangsik restaurants — it was oddly nice to see haha.

Onjeong's cutlet inside: pork cross-section and sauce
Cutting into the cutlet revealed thin-pounded Korean pork, sliced to just the right thickness for eating comfortably. The outside was crispy and the meat inside was really tender, pairing nicely with the sauce. In particular the sauce wasn't overly strong or sharp, so it was easy to keep eating and matched really well. Rather than a flashy or intense flavor, it tasted like a handmade cutlet you'd make at home — genuinely like something Mom would make, full of care and warmth, and not heavy at all. Totally my style.

The udon in the set: plenty of fried tofu and fish cake
The udon that came with the set was also a generous portion. It was loaded with fried tofu (yubu) and fish cake, which went great with the cutlet, and the amount was really substantial. Eating just the cutlet can feel a bit heavy, but sipping the warm udon broth in between balanced things out nicely.

The udon noodles were also nice and chewy, and the portion was big enough to feel really full. Being able to have a cutlet plus udon together makes this set a great pick if you want a hearty meal. It's a great combo when you want classic pork cutlet but also can't skip a warm noodle dish haha.

How spicy is Onjeong's spicy pork cutlet?
Next up is the addictively spicy and crispy spicy pork cutlet! A generous layer of red spicy sauce topped the cutlet. It comes with the same rice, salad, corn, and dinner roll as the classic cutlet, so if you usually prefer a spicier version over the basic cutlet, give this a try. Seriously. It's spicy.

Unlimited rice and salad refills at Onjeong
One more thing I liked here! Rice and salad are unlimited, so you can grab more whenever you run low. If you're going with a husband or boyfriend who eats a lot of rice with their cutlet, you don't need to order extra rice haha. It was great not having to worry about running short and being able to eat as much as you want.

To finish, dinner rolls with strawberry jam! After the spicy, salty cutlet, ending with sweet strawberry jam bread was the perfect palate cleanser haha.
Is Onjeong worth it, and when to go?
Overall the food had a mild, home-cooked feel rather than anything intense, and I could see why so many families came in — the classic cutlet especially tastes gentle enough for kids too. Whether you want to eat solo or bring kids for cutlet, this is a solid spot to visit as a pork cutlet restaurant near Hyochang Park. If you're craving a warm classic pork cutlet made with 100% handmade Korean pork and homemade sauce, I'd recommend Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch. That's my review after a really satisfying meal~
