I visited Oneuldo Utja Chowol, a great spot for squid-and-pork duruchigi and kimchi jjigae near Konjiam Resort and Hwadam Forest! I stopped in on my way back to Seoul after a business trip, and even though it was late, there were lots of customers and the food was so good! Try the spicy, delicious dishes at Oneuldo Utja Chowol this fall!😍
Oneuldo Utja Chowol location and parking
The address is 43-1 Sansu-ro, Chowol-eup, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Hours are 11:00–22:00, or until 21:00 on Sundays. Free parking is available in front, and there are high chairs, too.

Oneuldo Utja Chowol is about a 10–15 minute drive from Hwadam Forest and Konjiam Resort, so it is nice and close. It is right next to Chowol Sports Town, with plenty of free parking directly in front of the restaurant.

The interior was spacious and comfortable. There were lots of generously sized tables, so plenty of families were visiting. I also spotted several families dining with children, since high chairs are available. We sat by the window!

Ordering squid-and-pork duruchigi and sotbap
Here is the Oneuldo Utja Chowol menu. The main dishes are pork duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork), squid-and-pork duruchigi, squid duruchigi, old-fashioned kimchi jjigae, and jumbo rolled omelet. Sotbap (rice cooked in an individual pot) can also be ordered separately.

In one corner of the restaurant, sotbap was cooking away deliciously. At a restaurant known for sotbap, of course we had to order it!! We got two servings of squid-and-pork duruchigi, two sotbap, plus glass noodles and udon noodles✨️

First, they brought over the banchan (Korean side dishes) and small plates. We could refill the side dishes at the self-service station, too. They were crisp, fresh, and tasty. We could also help ourselves to hot miyeokguk (seaweed soup), which had a refreshing clam-seaweed-soup flavor that went so well with the squid-and-pork duruchigi!

Spicy duruchigi finished on the grill
Ta-da✨️ Our two servings of squid-and-pork duruchigi arrived in no time!! The presentation alone was incredible.

There were big pieces of squid and pork, plus vegetables piled up like a mountain, haha. The portion was seriously generous.
Before we really got cooking, a staff member gave everything a good turn. They coated and mixed it evenly with the sauce, then we stir-fried it on the grill.

The pork and squid had already been cooked before arriving, so we just cut them into smaller pieces, gave them one quick final cook, and could eat right away😆
The squid-and-pork duruchigi was bubbling away deliciously in no time🔥 Everything cooked beautifully in that spicy sauce. Even from the look of it, I was thinking, wow, this is the real deal, haha.
A meal with Suhyangmi sotbap
At the perfect moment, our piping-hot sotbap arrived!!
Ahh, the sotbap here is seriously no joke. It is made with a premium rice called Suhyangmi rather than regular rice, and you could absolutely taste the difference. It was nutty and seemed to have a lightly fragrant aroma, on a completely different level from ordinary rice. The rice was so good that I kept going back for more😍

Time to properly dig into the squid-and-pork duruchigi😍

Ah... my feeling was not wrong after all. This squid-and-pork duruchigi was so, so, so delicious!! Plump, savory pork and squid in a rich, spicy sauce, along with crisp, fresh vegetables. Everything about it was perfect👏👏👏 It was incredibly good with the freshly cooked sotbap!

Once we had eaten a little, in went the glass noodles and udon noodles! Both came pre-soaked, so after one quick boil, they were ready to eat.

They soaked up the spicy seasoning so well—they were such a rice thief. The chewy textures of the glass noodles and udon were so good, too!
We finished with savory nurungji sungnyung (scorched-rice tea). It was the best for soothing the heat and warming the stomach.

On the way out, we even had a cup of coffee for dessert. It was such a filling, satisfying dinner. If you are looking for a good restaurant near Konjiam Resort and Hwadam Forest, I recommend the sotbap and squid-and-pork duruchigi at Oneuldo Utja Chowol❤️
