Mokdong ramen restaurant in Seoul: solo tonkotsu lunch at Myeonsikdang

I had lunch on a weekday at Myeonsikdang Mokdong Pari Park, a ramen, tonkatsu and soba restaurant located in the plaza of the Mokdong hagwon (cram school) district. The place was tidy and clean, and the food was delicious — but what I loved most was that it's such a great spot for solo dining. I had some delicious tonkotsu ramen and karaage, let me tell you about it!

Myeonsikdang Mokdong Pari Park sits on the ground floor of Booyoung Green Town 1, right in the plaza at the heart of the Mokdong hagwon district. It's right in the center of the cram school area, so lots of students eat here, along with plenty of Mokdong locals. The vibe is relaxed, making it a comfortable place for solo diners to grab a meal 😊

The interior was clean and pleasant. There were several tables for 2 and 4, plus counter (dachi) seats and window seats set up for solo diners. Ramen is definitely a dish that solo diners flock to. I was there alone too, so I took a window seat! ☺️

I went right at opening time so the place had some breathing room, but once it passed 11:30, customers suddenly poured in and it filled up completely! This is clearly a popular ramen spot in Mokdong, especially busy at lunch and dinner 👏

The friendly owner and staff greeted me warmly. Ordering and paying is easy — just use the kiosk.

What's on the menu at Myeonsikdang

Myeonsikdang specializes in Japanese cuisine. The menu was varied — everything from ramen to curry rice bowls, tonkatsu, soba, buta-don (pork rice bowl), and even rice noodles. I really wanted to try the mazesoba (brothless mixed soba) but it was sold out — so disappointing 😭 I'll have to come back for that next time. There were also several types of tonkatsu, and soba came in cold and dipping-style varieties, among others.

I ordered the premium tonkotsu ramen, karaage, and a zero-sugar cola ✨️

Pickled radish, broth, water, bowls and the like — you just grab those yourself from the self-serve bar.

Everything arrived on a lovely Myeonsikdang tray ☺️ The presentation alone was neat and tidy.

The premium tonkotsu ramen came topped with big, thick chashu (braised pork slices), a soft-boiled egg, seaweed, and green onion. I loved how generous the portion was.

The karaage came in perfectly bite-sized pieces, easy to enjoy alongside the ramen, and was served with a sweet and spicy sauce.

The karaage was fried just right — crispy outside, juicy inside. The batter was nice and crunchy while the chicken inside stayed tender. The seasoning hit the sweet spot, not too salty or too bland, so I really enjoyed it 😊

The premium tonkotsu ramen tasted exactly like the tonkotsu ramen I've had in Japan, and I loved that so much 👏 The broth had real depth. The chashu was genuinely huge and thick, so filling. The soft-boiled egg had no fishy taste and was nicely savory. Eating the crunchy bean sprouts together with the well-cooked, soft noodles gave it great texture too. True to its reputation as a top ramen spot in Mokdong, the ramen was really, really good.

A great Mokdong ramen restaurant where even a solo diner can enjoy a comfortable, delicious meal — Myeonsikdang Mokdong Pari Park.

At the table next to me, a couple had ordered tonkatsu, and while eating it I heard them say, "Oh, this place's tonkatsu is legit!" 😲 Next time I'll try the tonkatsu and cold soba too haha.
