Daehangno pasta restaurant, first in at the 11:30 opening: Omil

I went to the most adorable pasta restaurant in Hyehwa! It's Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, well known as a Hyehwa pasta, omurice and risotto restaurant. The interior was so pretty and the food was delicious, so I left completely satisfied. There are lots of menu items kids would love, so it's especially good for eating with children ❤️

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is close to Hyehwa Station on Line 4. It's a great location for grabbing a meal after watching a play in Daehangno or hanging out in Hyehwa.

First in at the 11:30 opening — and full seats minutes later

The inside of the restaurant felt cozy and warm. It was clean and pleasant, so it would make a great date spot too. We timed it exactly for the 11:30 opening and got in first, and shortly after we sat down the place was already full and a wait line started. It's such a popular restaurant in Daehangno that if you're planning a date here, I'd recommend either an opening rush or a reservation! 🏃‍♀️

Omil was full of cute decorations 😍 So charming and adorable!

Each table had plates and cutlery set out. Water, pickles and the like were refillable at the self-service bar.

You could check the menu through a QR code on the table. There were delicious-looking signature items like pasta, omurice and steak, plus budget-friendly set menus. We ordered gochujang butter pasta, spicy fan steak risotto, truffle fries, Sprite and pineapple ade! 😍

The drinks came out quickly. The pineapple ade arrived in such a pretty cup haha. It was made with house-made pineapple syrup, so it was sweet, tangy and delicious! A refreshing ade that really quenches your thirst 👍

Everything looked so pretty and delicious. I get why this is such a popular date and blind-date spot in Daehangno. Food that makes you happy the moment you see it 🤭

Gochujang butter pasta with tender sous-vide pork neck

First up, the gochujang butter pasta I ordered! I'd seen a lot of reviews saying it's delicious, so I tried it, and it really was!! 😍

A rich, thick pasta combining the subtle umami of gochujang (fermented chili paste), the nutty flavor of butter, and moist sous-vide pork neck. It's the kind of addictive taste any Korean would fall for. The mild spiciness and savoriness were so good 😆

The sous-vide pork neck is unbelievably tender and moist. You have to try this!!

Spicy fan steak risotto: order it less spicy when eating with kids

This is the spicy fan steak risotto. A risotto with fan steak beef, vegetables stir-fried in chili oil, and cheese — this was also so delicious!

The risotto rice was cooked just right and the beef was tender, so the texture was excellent. I don't handle spicy food well, so I ordered it less spicy, and it suited my taste perfectly 😍 If you're eating with kids, try ordering it less spicy too.

Truffle fries, the side that balances the spicy dishes

The truffle fries side dish we had alongside the pasta and risotto!! Also completely satisfying. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside fries topped with truffle oil, sweet honey and cheese — the flavor was amazing. It paired really well with the spicy pasta and risotto!!

Now I understand why everyone waits in line to eat at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, a Hyehwa pasta restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were so kind, making it a really enjoyable lunch. Good for eating with kids, and perfect for dates or blind dates too — Omil is charming and pretty! Confirmed, and confirmed again, as a great restaurant in Hyehwa Daehangno 👍❤️
