Sunday was supposed to be Starfield day haha, but it turns out they're closed on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, ugh. While I was turning the car around after realizing this, my boyfriend said he was hungry, so I searched around. Found a Korean restaurant near Gachiul in Bucheon that supposedly has full parking, so we went. This is Bucheon's Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch.

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is at 59 Gilju-ro560beon-gil, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, a 20-minute walk from Gachiul Station and near Bucheon Sports Complex. Hours are 10:30–21:00, last order 20:00, no break time, closed on Chuseok day, and there's an on-site parking lot.
This Bucheon set-meal restaurant already has branches in Jungdong and Goyang — it's a well-known Korean restaurant chain. Ordering the Tteuranchae menu means the tasty banchan (side dishes) are refillable, so I was full of expectations. Public transit works fine, but since the lot is huge and the place sits deep in the woods, I'd recommend driving.
Inside the 2nd-floor dining room and waiting area
Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is on the 2nd floor. No elevator, but the stairs are low enough that climbing was no trouble.
The waiting area was spacious, which made it seem like the kind of restaurant with real waits — and there were also a lot of tables, so table turnover looked fine too.
How to order: Tteuranchae Bapsang for two plus cockle salad
The menu is a base ₩13,000 per person, ordered by headcount, and one à la carte dish is required. Grilled dried yellow croaker or mackerel both sounded good, but cockles someone else has already shelled for you are the best, so we ordered the Tteuranchae Bapsang for two plus one cockle salad.
Since the menu overall is Korean home-style food, I'd recommend this as a spot for a gathering with parents or family 💓
The 12 banchan and refillable cheonggukjang
The food came out fast. Twelve banchan total, one main, one cheonggukjang. Already smells like great value from here.
On top of that, this Bucheon spot's Tteuranchae Bapsang refills its cheonggukjang, making it even more of a value restaurant. The banchan came in small portions each, which looked really tidy. You can grab as much as you want from the self-bar, so let the overeating begin.
This Jak-dong, Bucheon restaurant's Tteuranchae Bapsang really has a lot of banchan, right? Even the cockle salad, though à la carte, was surprisingly generous. No fishy smell, and I never once bit into any grit, so it must have been well de-sanded 😍 The kimchi tasted homemade — my boyfriend kept saying how good it was. My personal pick was the sweet-and-sour eggplant.
₩21,000 per person including the main, unlimited banchan self-bar, and a stone pot on top of that... definitely a value pick in Bucheon.
Stone pot rice and rice from the self-bar
Stone pot rice too — perfect. It's not stone pot rice at the self-bar, but there's rice there too, so feel free to grab more.
You'd think they'd only give you a few banchan, but nope — the popular sweet-and-sour eggplant and braised potatoes were both there!!! We ended up having two bowls of rice each.
Overall the banchan weren't overly seasoned, the salt level was spot on, and the cheonggukjang was loaded with radish and tofu. It also had no strong smell and a nice nutty flavor, so even I, who usually don't like cheonggukjang, could enjoy it 🔥
Cockle salad: enough for two bowls of mixed rice
The cockles were plump and there were so many that we mixed rice with them twice. Cockles someone else has shelled for you really are the best 💕
The staff were kind and quick, so the whole meal was comfortable without any awkward moments.
