Daegu café with window-seat waffles: Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort

While driving toward Dongchon Resort, I stopped by Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점) for dessert. After looking around the multi-floor space, I sat by a third-floor window overlooking the trees and enjoyed waffles and coffee.

Where is the café, and is parking available?

The café is at 5-6 Hyodong-ro 6-gil, Dong-gu, Daegu, South Korea. The original post placed it about 778 m from Exit 2 of Dongchon Station and listed its hours as daily from 10:00 to 23:00.

It sits on the hillside by Dongchon Resort, and it was larger than I expected when I arrived.

The café space ran from the second through fourth floors. It also had its own parking lot, which made visiting by car convenient.

What was on the menu, and how much did I order?

I ordered on the second floor, where there was also a kiosk. Coffee options ranged from hand-drip coffee to espresso, Dutch coffee, and mélange. There were tea, milk, and fruit drinks as well, and I could choose the beans for hand-drip coffee.

There were also meal options such as Hands House Brunch, pasta, and jambon-beurre. I ordered dessert this time, but I would like to try the brunch next time.

Desserts included cakes, bakery items, and waffles. I ordered an iced long black for ₩5,000, a red bean cold brew frappé for ₩7,200, and a granola peanut cream waffle for ₩13,300, then added green tea ice cream for ₩3,500.

During my visit, there was also a notice for an event giving one Hands cookie to customers who posted a Naver receipt photo review.

What can you see and where can you sit on the second floor?

Hands Coffee cold brew products were displayed on one side. In their packaging, they looked suitable as gifts for coffee lovers.

There were also coffee beans, drip bags, and goods such as tumblers. Many packages used yellow as an accent, which made them fun to browse.

Plants, small decorative items, and objects were placed throughout the second floor. Overall, it had a vintage yet exotic atmosphere.

There were seats with large windows bringing in the outdoor view. They looked good for sitting back with a coffee.

What were the third- and fourth-floor window areas like?

The third floor, reached by elevator, felt calm and cozy with wood tones and brown accents. It had long sofa seats and table seating, while the concrete walls and wood tables added a vintage feel. Seeing the lighting and decorative objects alongside the view outside made it feel a little like looking around a small exhibition space.

On the fourth floor, there was an area where I could sit on the floor facing the windows.

It looked like a nice place to chat, have coffee, and take a break.

The fourth floor connected to a terrace, which made it feel open. Outside, I could take in the mountains, city, and trees at once, and it looked like a good place to sit on a nice day. There was also a rooftop space.

After looking around, I settled on the third floor. The green trees visible through the window kept it from feeling closed in, and it was a nice place to rest over drinks and dessert.

How did the peanut cream waffle and drinks taste?

That day, I had an iced long black, a red bean cold brew frappé, and a granola peanut cream waffle with added green tea ice cream.

The waffle I had been looking forward to most was generously topped with granola. Peanut cream and granola were arranged together on one side.

The waffle was crisp on the outside and moist inside. The granola added a pleasant texture as I bit into it.

The peanut cream added a nutty sweetness. It made the flavor feel fuller than eating the waffle on its own.

I put the added green tea ice cream on a piece of waffle. The sweet waffle went well with the slightly bitter green tea flavor.

The iced long black was clean-tasting and went well with the sweet dessert. The red bean cold brew frappé was topped with cream and a mint leaf, while the bottom had a smooth frappé-like texture. It was sweeter than regular coffee, so I enjoyed it almost like a dessert.

What I liked most about this visit was being able to linger slowly while looking out the window. With its own parking lot and a different seating atmosphere on each floor, I felt it suited a date or a break during a drive around Dongchon Resort.
