Yuryang-dong jjukkumi restaurant in Cheonan, ₩17,000 set: Bulnaneun
In short
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is a spicy jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan. The set of jjukkumi, hot pot rice and shrimp tempura came to about ₩17,000 per person at medium spice, with free seaweed cold soup and lettuce wraps from the self-serve bar. Making a jjukkumi rice bowl and then scorched rice from the hot pot made Bulnaneun Jjukkumi strong value for the price.

Whenever I get a craving for spicy jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) stir-fry, this is exactly the place I want to visit — Bulnaneun Jjukkumi. It's a well-known spot in Yuryang-dong too, so let's get into the review, let's gogo!
Where is Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch, and is there parking?
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is at 5 Yangjimal 1-gil, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, open daily 11:00–20:00. Parking, takeout, and reservations are all available.

Why do jjukkumi restaurants these days all look so fancy from the outside...!? There are two Bulnaneun Jjukkumi locations in Cheonan, and this time I went to the Yuryang Direct Branch since it's close to my place.

Just follow the navigation and you'll drive straight into the parking lot entrance. The parking space is genuinely huge, so it's great for company dinners too, and you won't have to worry about parking at all.

What is on the self-serve bar: banchan, seaweed cold soup and lettuce wraps
The moment we sat down at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch, the side dishes came out. That seaweed cold soup was so good I went back for seconds — twice, haha.

This is the self-serve bar where I scooped up seaweed cold soup twice more. You can freely help yourself to all the basic side dishes here too.

You can also grab extra lettuce for wraps — it felt like lettuce and garlic straight from a farm! There's ssamjang (dipping sauce) too, so anyone who loves wraps can load up.

What comes in the set, and how to choose your spice level
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi's set menu comes in three spice levels. We chose medium, and since I liked hot pot rice better than perilla-seed kalguksu (noodle soup), we went with the jjukkumi + hot pot rice + shrimp tempura set, haha.

Besides the set, there are individual dishes too, plus a griddle-cooked jjukkumi dish that's great with drinks. Sides include shrimp tempura and cheese pork cutlet, so no need to worry if you're bringing little ones who can't handle spicy food!

₩17,000 per person, hot pot rice included
It came out quickly after we ordered! The smoky char smell hit the moment it arrived, which I loved. For the record, I think jjukkumi tastes best stir-fried fast over high heat.

And for a set that's around ₩17,000 per person, getting hot pot rice too feels like such a steal,,?? Eat the rice first, then the scorched rice that follows pairs perfectly with the jjukkumi~~

How spicy is medium at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi, and is the portion enough?
I chose medium spice, and it was fine even for me who loves spicy food, and my little one who can't handle spice ate it well too! Best of all, the portion was huge, and there was way more jjukkumi than vegetables, which I loved.

Before making jjukkumi over rice, I had one bite first with plain rice and lettuce on top..♡ The jjukkumi was so chewy that you really have to eat it with plain rice first.

After scooping out the hot pot rice, all the side dishes come out in full force~~ Add bean sprouts, lettuce, radish salad, and whatever else you like to taste, then pile on plenty of jjukkumi, and boom — jjukkumi rice bowl, done.

There are plenty of jjukkumi restaurants in Cheonan, but when it comes to the best jjukkumi spot in Cheonan, it's still Bulnaneun Jjukkumi! The sauce is packed with smoky char flavor and that sweet-spicy balance, so it's genuinely delicious even made into a rice bowl, haha. Plus the jjukkumi itself was perfectly stir-fried, chewy and fresh!

The chili-sauce shrimp tempura that comes with the set
After a couple of spoonfuls, the shrimp tempura arrived! I was thinking of ordering another side since jjukkumi alone might get plain, but it was already included in the set at a good portion! Shrimp tempura from a jjukkumi stir-fry restaurant somehow tastes better than shrimp tempura anywhere else, lol.

Surprisingly, they gave us something like chili sauce instead of tartar sauce!? The sweet-spicy flavor paired so well with the crispy shrimp tempura, haha.

How about that — a bite full of desire, jjukkumi that's delicious with shrimp tempura too! Whenever I'm craving jjukkumi in Cheonan, I think I'll naturally end up back at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi. If you're craving a delicious spicy jjukkumi stir-fry, give Bulnaneun Jjukkumi, the Yuryang-dong, Cheonan favorite, a visit🫶🏻
