Cheonan chicken stew restaurant with a cauldron entrance: Sottture

In short

Sottture Dakdoritang is a chicken stew (dakdoritang) restaurant in Seongjeong-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. Two diners ordered the whole chicken for 35,000 won with a rolled omelet and self-made fried rice, and the pot held far more chicken than vegetables or rice cakes, leaving both of them stuffed. With a steaming cauldron at the entrance and a parking lot out back, Sottture Dakdoritang works well for family meals or company dinners.

What is Sottture Dakdoritang in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan?

Sottture Dakdoritang is a chicken stew (닭도리탕, spicy braised chicken) specialty restaurant on the 1st floor of 31 Seobu 19-gil, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, open daily 11:00–23:00 with a break time from 15:00 to 16:00. I finally went to Sottture, famous in Cheonan as a dakdoritang hotspot! 🫕❤️ Lunch or dinner, doesn't matter — the place is always packed and delivery orders keep pouring in, so I had to go see just how good it really is ~

They even have a pork cutlet on the menu, which seemed like a great option if you're bringing kids along. I debated between ordering the potato pancake or the rolled omelet, and ended up going with the whole chicken plus the rolled omelet, a cola, and self-made fried rice.

At Sottture Dakdoritang, everything is cooked to order and simmered down right at your table, so you get a chicken stew with a rich, concentrated chicken broth flavor — they use domestic chicken and make their own broth from scratch, so of course it's delicious . . 💟💟

Side dishes and the mood inside Sottture Dakdoritang

As soon as we ordered, they brought out basic side dishes — radish, cucumber pickles, pickled onion, kimchi — and you can get more from the self-serve bar if you run out.

The interior had more tables than I expected, and it was clean.

How big is the 10,000 won rolled omelet?

I ordered the rolled omelet 🍳 thinking it would go well with the spicy-sweet chicken stew! I was surprised by how huge it was, and it tasted just like the rolled omelet you'd make at home — really good. Perfect either as a kids' dish or as a drinking snack 💛

Is the 35,000 won whole chicken enough for two?

After we'd eaten a few pieces of the omelet, our chicken stew arrived! ❤️ The red sauce, the smell, the portion — all insane. And the eggs... the little chick-shaped eggs were so cute and a little sad too (?)

Everywhere else, you usually get more vegetables or rice cake than meat, but Sottture Dakdoritang really loads up on chicken — vegetables < rice cake <<<<<< chicken. It made for a really hearty, filling meal!

The sauce wasn't just spicy or just sweet — it had that spicy-sweet balance, almost like tteokbokki (rice cake in spicy sauce) simmered down with chicken broth, or a chicken jjigae (stew). The broth was just plain delicious.

What order to eat the chicken stew in

Next to the menu, there was a tip on how to eat: rice cake < wings < breast < drumstick. As the chicken fat and sauce simmer down together, the sauce gets incredibly good — it's basically a rice thief . . 🍚🤍

Following the order, we tried the rice cake, wings, and egg first, and the chicken was so tender and delicious that we ate really enthusiastically. The meat was so substantial that the two of us nearly burst!

Finishing with self-made fried rice for 2,000 won

And now, the moment we'd been waiting for — self-made fried rice.

We scooped the leftover chicken stew into a separate bowl, leaving just the sauce for frying the rice!

Even the fried rice was delicious to the very last bite! The portions are generous and everything was so good, it seemed like a great spot for a family gathering or a company dinner.
