Looking for somewhere to properly enjoy seasonal seafood near Yeongtong Station, I went to Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch 🐟🤍 Near the Dongsuwon Tax Office, toward Gureum Plaza, there's a strip that feels like Yeongtong's own bar street, packed with restaurants and bars! This place was busy even on a weekday evening, so I got curious and went to check it out ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

It's not far from Yeongtong Station, so it's good for a drink after work or as a second stop after dinner nearby. It's shrimp season right now, so even the tank by the entrance was packed with fresh shrimp, which got my hopes up for the seafood before I even walked in haha. They were even selling live shrimp sashimi!
Inside Susan Jang: the two-person dachi bar seats
Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch felt cozier than I expected. There are 2-person dachi bar seats near the entrance, and further in there are 4-person tables — good for a casual drink for two, or for a bigger group dinner with friends or coworkers.
The restroom is outside the restaurant, but it's well signposted.
The 2-person dachi seats are a bit tight, but there are coat hooks on the wall so you can hang bags there too — nice touch!
Ordering was easy through the tablet at each table. Chopsticks, soy sauce dishes, soy sauce, and vinegar-chili sauce were all already set out.
The complimentary side: grilled flounder
Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch gives grilled flounder as the complimentary side dish 🐟! It came out golden brown and still hot. Eating it while it was still steaming was surprisingly delicious …🥺 and that's how the soju got going right away.
And here's the perk of the dachi seats . . 🤍🤍 watching the sashimi being cut right in front of you. It was sliced fresh, thick and clearly fresh. The seafood tank is right next to the dachi seats too, so you can watch them pull out and prep the seafood you ordered!

What comes on the Susan Jang assorted platter?
The Susan Jang assorted platter is made from seasonal fish and seafood delivered fresh every morning. That day it came piled high with everything from flounder and red seabream to sea squirt, scallop sashimi, and abalone sashimi!
And the sea squirt — my first time trying it! I usually hesitate because of that distinctive sea squirt smell, but maybe because it was so fresh here, there was almost no fishy taste, just a fragrant sea aroma that totally won me over •• 🦪
The fin flesh and the abalone sashimi both had great texture too … with sashimi and seafood of every kind on one platter, it seemed like a great dish for a group to share as drinking food!
It also came with seaweed and radish sprouts, and wrapping the sashimi in those was great ..🩵🩵
The scallop sashimi that came with it was delicious dunked generously in vinegar-chili sauce . . ♥ tasting even better for being so fresh!
Jangheung butter pen shell and beef brisket samhap
This dish was a total standout too! It comes with mushrooms, surf clam meat, beef brisket, and mustard leaf kimchi — the point is to eat this exact combination together.
It's also good dipped lightly in the sesame sauce and spicy sauce served alongside, and with cabbage laid underneath, mixing that in gave it great texture and cut through the richness a bit. Perfect drinking food ..🤤
Gyeduman noodles, the broth that finishes the meal
You always end up craving hot broth somewhere in the middle of drinking, right ㅋㅋㅋㅋ We were deep into eating and drinking when we started craving something soupy, so we added gyeduman noodles!!! True to its name ("gye du" means two eggs), it comes with two eggs so you can share one each haha 🥚 A drinking session really isn't complete without that last broth ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
Is Susan Jang good for a group dinner or a date?
Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch was nearly fully booked even on a weekday evening, which explains why it's such a popular spot for group dinners and gatherings — but the dachi seats also seemed great for an intimate date over drinks for two. Being able to watch the seafood get pulled straight from the tank and prepped in front of you makes it extra fun if you love fresh seafood!
