Cheat-day charcoal pork galbi with myeoljeot in Daegu: Baeksanu Sutbul
In short
Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo, Daegu, with a kids' playroom and a self-serve bar for pork skin and pickled chili peppers. On a diet cheat day, the writer started with bakpo saeng galbi (thin-filleted raw pork ribs), added 500g more pork galbi, and finished by mixing daecheop bap (a big bowl of seasoned rice) with doenjang jjigae. With the children busy in the playroom, the parents could take their time over the charcoal grill — an easy family dinner spot in Wolseong-dong.

I've been having a cheat day about once a week while dieting! I really wanted pork galbi, but the kids wanted somewhere with a playroom... so I found this Wolseong-dong restaurant, Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch — a pork galbi place that even has a playroom!

Where is Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch, and where do you park?
Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is at 102-10 Joam-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, open weekdays 16:00–23:30 and weekends 12:00–23:30 (last order 22:30). There's no dedicated lot, but street parking is available.
This was my first visit to this Wolseong-dong restaurant, and the vibe from the exterior alone was... so good! The firewood stacked outside gave it such great atmosphere...! There was no dedicated parking lot, but the empty lot out front and the street made it easy enough to find a spot.

The dining room is on the larger side too, so it's great for family visits, work dinners, or just eating out.

Sausages, a clay hearth and the dining room at Baeksanu Sutbul
The interior at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch already made me think the meat would be amazing... sausages hung up like that, and since they're known for filleting the meat in-house, you could watch them prepping the meat right there!
And this hearth! Not sure if they actually use it, but just having it there pumps up the atmosphere so much haha.

Unlimited pork skin self-bar and the kids' playroom
There's a self-bar too! And on the self-bar... there's pork skin! Pork skin is usually a paid menu item, but the fact that you can eat as much as you want here is... the best! And you can help yourself to the pickled chili peppers without feeling awkward too!
And one of the main reasons we came here... the playroom! Once kids have eaten enough, they want to go play, right? Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch has a separate kids' play space, so while the kids had a blast playing, we got to eat our meat at a relaxed pace. This is exactly why, when I'm looking for a family restaurant in Wolseong-dong, I start by searching for a playroom~ There's also a dessert slushy machine, perfect for cleansing your palate at the end!

The menu and our first order: bakpo saeng galbi
Let's take a look at the menu! Pork galbi is the main item, but we started by ordering the bakpo saeng galbi (thinly filleted raw pork galbi) first.

There was also a review event where you could get either doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) or cheese scallop, so it's worth joining if you're up for it! We got the doenjang jjigae :-)
The fire got going, and I've honestly never seen charcoal this good at a meat restaurant before!
Here's the basic side dish setup! If you run out, you can just grab more from the self-bar haha.
The bakpo saeng galbi arrived. They told us bakpo saeng galbi is pork galbi that's been thinly filleted wide and prepped that way! It has that nutty flavor like samgyeopsal but with the chewy texture unique to galbi, so if you're into raw meat, you'd really love this.

It's a menu item eaten plain with no seasoning, so you could really taste the nutty flavor of the meat itself, and it was delicious just grilled golden over charcoal!

Myeoljeot (anchovy dipping sauce) with pickled chili peppers
Eating it with the pickled chili peppers and myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) is great too. I'm personally not a big fan of myeoljeot, but this one was so good I kept dipping into it, haha. It has a different charm from the seasoned galbi, so I'd say eat the bakpo saeng galbi first before moving on to the seasoned galbi if you order both!

Even the kids said the meat here was so good... two thumbs up!

Adding 500g more pork galbi, and why to ask for it pre-grilled
I told you at the start... I'm on a diet.... So I really did try to hold off on the pork galbi.... but after eating the bakpo saeng galbi, it was too good and I couldn't resist.... We added 500g of pork galbi. Some orders come pre-grilled and some come raw — since raw takes a bit longer to cook, it might be worth ordering the pre-grilled version ahead of time!

I was too busy eating to take more photos than this... but pork galbi really needs to be grilled over charcoal! That nutty smell as the seasoning slightly caramelizes was just so good ㅠㅠㅠ Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and I kept reaching for more.

Finishing with daecheop bap and doenjang jjigae
Again, let me remind you I'm on a diet...? When you order daecheop bap, it comes out like a bibimbap (mixed rice bowl)! Mixed together with the doenjang jjigae.... I properly enjoyed my cheat day! Haha.

Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch left both the meat-craving parents and the play-craving kids satisfied haha. If you're near Wolseong-dong or Sinwolseong looking for good pork galbi, or trying to figure out where to take the family for dinner in Wolseong-dong, it's worth checking out this restaurant with a playroom~!!
