Today's post is a review of a gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant in Wolseong-dong. I had the mixed grill combo, and I loved that the staff grill everything for you — this place is also a killer choice as a Sinwolseong drinking spot, since the food goes so well with a drink.

It's 'Miso Gopchang Wolseong.' Here's my review of this Korean beef gopchang and makchang (beef abomasum) restaurant in Dalseo, Daegu.

Where is Miso Gopchang Wolseong and what are its hours?

Miso Gopchang Wolseong is located at 187 Sangwon-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, South Korea, 1st floor. Hours are 5:00 PM–12:00 AM, with last order at 11:00 PM, and it stays open until 1:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

On weekends and during peak hours, I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservations or calling ahead.

Finding the storefront and where to park in Wolseong-dong

Right next to Wolseong-dong's Maeulmadang Park, and diagonally across from Starbucks — this place was easy to spot thanks to its bright green 'Miso Gopchang Wolseong' sign.

Storefront sign announcing milk-daechang

Oh! Milk-daechang — I'd never seen that before. It's the signature menu item at Miso Gopchang Wolseong, so I walked in with high expectations.

There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to park on the street or in nearby alleys depending on availability. There's no parking enforcement from 7 PM to 7 AM the next day, and none on Saturdays or public holidays either.

Miso combo for two: what is on the menu and how much?

Grilled dishes at Miso Gopchang Wolseong require a minimum order of 2 servings, and the Miso combo, milk-daechang, miso gopchang, and miso makchang are all ₩25,000 per person. Since we wanted to try a variety of flavors, we ordered the best-selling Miso combo for two.

Three house sauces with instructions for the best way to eat
How to enjoy Miso Gopchang, a gopchang restaurant in Wolseong-dong

With the house special meat sauce, three kinds of house sauces, and a variety of side dishes, it was great to pair different flavors with the beef heart, gopchang, makchang, and milk-daechang.

A good bite starts with good ingredients.

They use Korean beef slaughtered the same day in Gunwi, and prepare it in-house — apparently this is a well-known gopchang spot in Sinwolseong. The milk-daechang is aged in milk for extra savory flavor and is their signature dish. ✔️A recommended spot in Wolseong-dong to enjoy top-grade Korean beef gopchang

Retro interior and dining room atmosphere

Yeongsugabok: may lasting good fortune be with you.

There are tasteful phrases and artwork scattered throughout, adding a sense of charm and refinement.

Retro wall mixing European and old-school tearoom style

A restaurant with unexpectedly great interior design! The walls have a retro style that mixes European vibes with an old-school Korean tearoom feel — I really liked it.

Neatly arranged dining hall at Miso Gopchang Wolseong

Being a fairly new restaurant, the interior was really clean and comfortable — I'd also recommend it as a date spot in Sinwolseong.

This gopchang restaurant started as a small shop in Gumi and has now made its way to Wolseong-dong, Daegu.

The complimentary abalone clam soup

Miso Gopchang Wolseong provides an abalone clam soup free of charge. It was a perfect thing to eat while waiting for the main grilled dishes, which come pre-grilled from the kitchen.

Complimentary abalone clam soup and side dish setup

They first set out the special sauces and side dishes, then brought out the abalone clam soup — and I loved that this was included for free. Once it was boiling, they even prepped it for us right at the table.

Fresh abalone along with hard clams and scallops, all packed into a free clam soup! It's the perfect thing to eat while the main gopchang dish gets pre-grilled.

Even the large abalone pieces were cut into easy-to-eat sizes. The broth was really spicy too — perfect with soju!

What the pre-grilled Miso combo spread looks like

The Miso combo comes with Korean beef gopchang, daechang, makchang, and beef heart. Ta-da! Today's star dish has arrived — the Miso combo!

On the grill, they beautifully arranged the gopchang, daechang, makchang, beef heart, chives, and enoki mushrooms. They also added sweet potato, cheese tteok (rice cake), and potato.

Everything comes pre-grilled from the kitchen first, which makes it much easier to eat, and they cut it into bite-sized pieces right at the table too.

A gopchang restaurant in Sinwolseong that only uses fresh Korean beef slaughtered the same day in Gunwi and prepares it themselves — the presentation alone was amazing.

Beef heart with wholegrain mustard sauce

First up, the beef heart. It can get tough if overcooked, so dipping it in wholegrain mustard sauce early on gives it a clean, delicious flavor.

The gopchang had a wonderfully crispy-outside, chewy-inside texture. It pairs really well with bean flour!

During the meal, the owner gave us a chance to draw a lottery ticket, and we got 4th place — winning a free 500cc draft beer.

And since the mixed gopchang grill makes such a killer drinking snack, we ordered more soju! ✔️A recommended bar in Wolseong-dong for gopchang and drinks

Mustard leaf kimchi grilled in gopchang fat

Grilled mustard leaf kimchi and the signature milk-daechang

You know that well-fermented mustard leaf kimchi grilled in gopchang fat is a special treat, right?

A piece of the signature grilled milk-daechang

In particular, the signature milk-daechang at this Wolseong-dong gopchang spot bursts with rich, savory flavor the moment it hits your mouth — and it's completely soft. It goes really well with wasabi too.

I love regular meat too, but lately I've been craving intestine dishes like gopchang, makchang, and daechang. If you're a fan of gopchang and daechang, I'd recommend giving this place a try. ✔️Recommended gopchang, makchang, and daechang restaurant in Sinwolseong

Self-serve ice cream machine near the entrance

Oh! And there's a self-serve ice cream machine near the entrance, which was a nice touch for dessert.
