Pungmu-dong jjukkumi restaurant in Gimpo: turmeric rice set, Osaejju
In short
Osaejju is a jjukkumi (baby octopus) restaurant on the second floor at 11 Pungmu 2-ro in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo, Gyeonggi, and it is also close to Geomdan New Town. Wanting a protein-heavy meal out with her gym-going husband, the writer ordered the 26,000 won jjukkumi and pork belly stir-fry rice set for two and mixed the turmeric hot pot rice with seasoned vegetables and the stir-fry. The sauce is not very spicy and works especially well with the steamed egg, making Osaejju an easy recommendation when a jjukkumi craving hits in Pungmu-dong.

I've been trying to eat more protein lately, and my husband works out regularly too, so when we eat out together we tend to look for healthier options! This time I was craving jjukkumi (spicy stir-fried octopus), so we went to Osaejju, a jjukkumi spot in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo that's also pretty close to Geomdan New Town.
Where Osaejju is and when it opens
Osaejju is located on the 2nd floor at 11 Pungmu 2-ro, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open from 10:00 to 22:00, closed on Tuesdays. It's in Pungmu-dong, but it turned out to be closer to Geomdan New Town than I expected, so it was an easy trip.

Parking: the T map building across the street
One thing to know ahead of time — parking! You can't park in the building where the restaurant is; instead, park in the building across the street marked "T map Parking." I actually thought I could park in the same building at first, but nope. Definitely worth keeping in mind if you're visiting! I've tagged the parking spot on the map too, so it should be easy to find.
Inside Osaejju: an airy second floor with full-height windows
Osaejju is on the 2nd floor, and the inside felt even nicer than it looked from outside. Especially on a nice-weather day like this, they had the big windows wide open, letting the breeze in — the atmosphere was really lovely.

There were solo diners as well as couples, and there were more tables than I expected, so it seems like a good spot for office workers nearby at lunch too. I visited after the lunch peak so it was quiet, but apparently it gets pretty busy during peak hours.
Osaejju's menu, from jjukkumi to pork belly and shrimp
The star of the show is, of course, jjukkumi!

You can add pork belly, shrimp, squid and more to the jjukkumi, and there are also side dishes like seafood pancake and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), so there's quite a variety of choices.

Jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry rice set for two, ₩26,000
I really love rice pot dishes (sotbap), so this time I ordered the jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry rice set.
What comes with the 26,000 won jjukkumi rice set for two
The jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry rice set isn't the kind of dish you cook yourself on a hot plate — it comes out already fully cooked. Honestly, I found that really convenient. haha

When it all arrived, the spread was more generous than I expected. Bracken fern and other seasoned vegetables, bean sprouts, cold cucumber soup, steamed egg, a vegetable salad, turmeric rice, and the jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry! The rice wasn't just plain rice either — it was turmeric rice, so it was pretty just from the color, and the grains had a nice chewy texture.

I scooped a generous amount of rice into the big bowl that came with it, piled on the seasoned vegetables one by one, and finally topped it with the jjukkumi and pork belly stir-fry before mixing it all together — and this combination was genuinely delicious.

How spicy is Osaejju's jjukkumi? The steamed egg pairing
When I think of jjukkumi, I immediately think spicy, but Osaejju's jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry wasn't as spicy as I expected. I can handle some spice, but I don't love overly intense heat — here, the sauce itself was so tasty that it was perfect mixed with rice. The chewy texture of the jjukkumi combined with the pork belly made it filling, and with all the different vegetables mixed in, the textures varied enough that it never got boring. And personally, the combination of steamed egg and jjukkumi was the best part! The slightly spicy jjukkumi stir-fry was mellowed out beautifully by the soft steamed egg, so I just kept eating more and more…😂💗
Worth it if you want jjukkumi in Pungmu-dong
Since I've been trying to eat more protein, I find myself looking for meat- or seafood-based dishes whenever we eat out, and this jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry with both octopus and pork belly worked well for eating with my husband too. Best of all, it comes with sotbap and seasoned vegetables, making it an absolutely filling meal!👍🏻

If you're near Pungmu-dong, close to Geomdan, and craving jjukkumi, I'd recommend Osaejju! If you love sotbap like me, try the jjukkumi-pork belly stir-fry rice set. And when you're eating jjukkumi, definitely get the steamed egg alongside it. haha
