If you're looking for a hearty, clean Korean meal near Korean Folk Village, I have to recommend this place — the wood-fired grilled fish specialist 'Guigo'. It's a great spot to visit with your parents or kids before or after a trip to the folk village.

What kind of restaurant is Guigo, the wood-fired fish spot near Korean Folk Village?
Guigo specializes in fish grilled over a wood-fired oven, so you get to enjoy clean, light fish — that's why I recommend it. Guigo is located about 5-10 minutes by car from Korean Folk Village, so it's a very convenient stop before or after your outing.
And unlike other grilled fish restaurants, they have sets for 2 or 3 people, which is great because you get a variety of grilled fish!!! The light, oily fish flesh is an absolute rice thief!! You can also order single items if you prefer just your favorite fish.
How to find Guigo and where to park
Finding Guigo the first time can be a bit confusing, because you have to pass a car wash and go further inside. I wasn't sure if I was in the right place, but after turning left, Guigo's building appeared right in front of me!!

Once you pass the car wash and go inside, there's a large parking lot, so it's easy to park.

Inside Guigo

Assorted wood-fired grilled fish & solbap for two, 36,000 won
There were two of us, so we ordered the assorted wood-fired grilled fish & hot pot rice set for two, ₩36,000!! Such a variety of fish came out that there was almost too much for two people to finish!!

Once you order, neatly arranged side dishes get set on the table. Altari kimchi, fresh seasonal namul (seasoned vegetables) — Korean side dishes that pair well with grilled fish, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, just right.

What's on Guigo's self-serve side dish bar: japchae and salad too
You can grab extra sides from the salad bar, and there's japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) too, so I served myself just the right amount!! Fresh salad too, self-serve! Being able to freely help yourself to whatever you want without feeling awkward made the whole meal really satisfying, and the self-bar was kept spotlessly clean!!

Spoons and chopsticks are on top of the table, not in a drawer beside it. While we were enjoying the tasty side dishes, the grilled fish and hot pot rice arrived!!

For the hot pot rice, they scoop out the rice and pour water into the pot!!

Which fish come in Guigo's assorted set for two
The assorted set for two comes with grilled hairtail, grilled mackerel, grilled flatfish, and grilled rockfish — pretty solid lineup, right??

The lineup is great for tasting each fish's flavor! Considering these days' dining prices, ₩36,000 for two people that includes wood-fired grilled fish, freshly made hot pot rice, and a generous self-serve side bar felt like really good value for what you get.
The quality of the grilled fish is crispy outside, tender inside!! The wood-fire oven's distinctive smoky flavor is infused in, so the skin is crispy while the flesh inside is moist and fluffy.

Why Guigo suits family gatherings and meals with parents
A great place to visit while stopping by Korean Folk Village or for a family gathering! There's a baby chair and easy parking, making it convenient to visit.

The side dishes are neat and clean, which makes it especially good for gatherings with older family members, and since seaweed soup (miyeokguk) comes as the standard soup, it's also great for a birthday meal. Haha.

'Guigo', a must-visit near Korean Folk Village in Yongin, is a place where you can enjoy a satisfying wood-fired grilled fish spread and neat hot pot rice at a reasonable price. The food isn't overly seasoned and it's a healthy meal, so my stomach felt comfortable even after eating. If you're planning a trip to the folk village, or looking for a reliably clean grilled fish set meal near Giheung, Yongin, I recommend 'Guigo'.
