Texas smokehouse BBQ restaurant in Yongin Yangji: Rustic Smoke House

One couple set was enough to fill up two people.

Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch keeps coming up as a must-try restaurant in Yongin Yangji, so I looked it up on blogs and made a reservation before heading over.

It sits right next to Asiana CC Golf Course, so it's a great stop for a drive during cherry blossom or autumn leaf season.

Parking and interior at Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch

Having its own building made parking easy from the start.

The exterior already has a strong, exotic Texas smokehouse feel,

enough that it felt like I was on an overseas trip.

Inside, the wood-toned interior feels like a mountain lodge, with plants and lighting hanging here and there, and a self-service bar set up in the center.

Since water, plates and utensils are all self-serve, we could set up our table quickly without waiting.

On the glass door by the entrance was a sign noting this was a filming location for SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Uju Merimi'. Photos of scenes actually shot inside the restaurant were displayed, which would be a nice touch for fans of the show.

Several baby chairs were also set up around the tables. It was a nice detail, clearly meant to make things easier for families with babies.

What comes in the Couple SET at Rustic Smoke House, and what does it cost?

We ordered the couple SET for two.

The set includes a choice of BBQ platter or steak platter, a choice of pasta or rice, two drinks, and a house salad.

We chose the BBQ platter (brisket 150g + pulled pork 150g + loin rib 300g + coleslaw + 4 dinner rolls), tomato ragu pasta, and zero-sugar cola.

Brisket (150g)

The brisket came sliced thin like chadolbagi (thinly sliced brisket), and went down smoothly.

Pulled pork (150g)

Pulled pork is pork shoulder smoked for a long time and shredded,

and eating it as a mini sandwich with the dinner roll and coleslaw was a great combination.

Loin rib (300g)

Despite my worries, the meat was thick and generous, cooked so tender it practically fell apart on its own. Just one piece per person was already enough to fill you up.

Tomato ragu pasta

The rich sauce is made from ground beef, onion, garlic and vegetables sautéed for a long time.

The deep color caught me off guard at first, but dipping the dinner roll into the sauce turned out to be an even better match.

Since I don't often eat this kind of BBQ, I wasn't sure at first what combination would work best.

If it's just two women dining, ordering the BBQ platter alone would already be a generous meal.

House salad

Fresh vegetables and cherry tomatoes woke up our appetite before the main course.

In the end there was so much food, the two of us couldn't finish it and packed some to go.

Next to the self-service bar, a tall wall of stills from 'Uju Merimi' filming let us see exactly how the drama's background looked.

The wood decor and lighting scattered around the restaurant also made for good photo backdrops.

The tablet ordering screen on our table also showed a notice for the Naver receipt review event.

Leaving a review along with a photo of your payment receipt gets you a free cat keyring.

When is the best time to visit?

Right next to Asiana CC Golf Course, it's a great stop on a cherry blossom or autumn leaf drive.

Since steak and Texas BBQ are the main draws, it also works well any time of year when you want a hearty meal.

Tips before you go

The generous dedicated parking lot in front meant I didn't have to worry about finding a spot.

Naver reservations are available, so I'd recommend booking ahead for weekends or evenings.

Checking directions on a map app beforehand helps you avoid getting lost on your first visit. If you like the place, save it so it's easy to find again next time.

After the meal, we stopped by The Chair Yongin showroom, about 13 minutes away by car. There was a big furniture discount event running at the time, so it's worth checking whether it's still on before you go.

I discovered Rustic Smoke House Yongin Yangji Branch while looking for a good restaurant in Yongin Yangji, and I especially liked being able to try three kinds of Texas BBQ at once.

My one small regret is that I might have enjoyed the pescatore pasta more than the tomato ragu pasta.

The couple set was generous enough for two women or two men to have plenty left over. With baby chairs available too, it's a solid choice for a family meal or dining out with your parents.
