Daegu Station bossam restaurant for a trip's first meal: Uldong Bossam

In short

Uldong Bossam is a Gyodong-style bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, a short walk from Daegu Station. As the first meal of a two-day Daegu trip, lunch at a wooden window table brought the medium Uldong Bossam set with two cuts of pork, an addictive radish kimchi and minari combo, two bowls of rice, two Zero Cokes and a chunky doenjang jjigae. Careful prep down to the trimmed perilla leaves and a hip room make Uldong Bossam a solid first stop near Daegu Station.

Uldong Bossam: a Gyodong bossam restaurant near Daegu Station

Uldong Bossam is a new bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant at 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, 1st floor. Starting a two-day Daegu trip, we wanted to eat properly from the very first meal, so we headed to Uldong Bossam, a new Gyodong-dong favorite.

Come to Dongin-dong, Daegu, and just eat jjimgalbi (braised short ribs)? Rookie move haha. We went for a hearty bossam spread instead🐷 It's close to Daegu Station too, so it was a great first stop for the trip. Here's my honest review of this Daegu Station favorite, Uldong Bossam✍🏻✨

  • ⏰ Hours: 11:00 – 23:00
  • ☕ Break time: 15:00 – 16:30
  • 🍽️ Last order: 21:30
  • Reservations also available via Naver (lunch and dinner)

How can a bossam place be this hip, clean, and pretty haha. The moment you walk in, it feels less like a bossam restaurant and more like a trendy café. Cleanest and hippest bossam place I've been to yet — a strong first impression, full of that Gyodong-dong, Daegu vibe🩵

Café-like interior of Uldong Bossam

Who knew you could take aesthetic shots at a bossam restaurant🤣 The hip Daegu atmosphere really stands out. Seems like a lot of people come for drinks in the evening, but they're also open for lunch, so we went at lunchtime! There are government offices nearby, so a lot of police officers were in for lunch too👀 That kind of detail gives it that real local-favorite feeling haha. If office workers are lining up for lunch, you know it's the real deal🐷✨

Lunchtime view of the Uldong Bossam dining hall

Right at the entrance, a whole lineup of whisky that gets you excited🥃✨ Did not expect to see you guys at a bossam place. Already love this spot — 100 points! Seeing that whisky lineup all lined up just made me happy haha. Boss, are we destined to be friends?🫶🏻 My taste got called out before I even ate the bossam haha.

Window seats at Uldong Bossam, from solo diners to groups of 30

Inside Uldong Bossam there's a range of seating, from solo seats great for eating alone to 2-person and 4-person tables. We looked around and picked a window seat with great natural light🪟✨ Tables are often too small once the food arrives, but here the wooden tables were wide and roomy — so good! Plenty of space to lay out a full bossam spread.

Overall the tables are wide and the wooden interior keeps things clean but hip💚 There's also a separate room for 10-12 people, and group seating for up to 30, so it looked like a solid spot for a Gyodong-dong, Daegu work dinner or group gathering👌🏻 Works well for solo meals, dates, and group get-togethers — a great Gyodong-dong, Daegu restaurant🐷✨

Uldong Bossam's menu and what we ordered for lunch

For lunch there's a light lunch special bossam set, and for meat lovers there's a meat-heavy bossam set🐷✨ Mains range from Uldong Bossam small/medium/large to a warm bossam hot pot, plus minari (water dropwort) pancake and potato pancake on the side!

A hearty full set for lunch, and for dinner, bossam with a pancake and a drink — the menu covers both🥃🔥

  • 🐷 Uldong Bossam (medium)
  • 🍚 2 bowls of rice
  • 🥤 2 Zero Coke

Even though it was lunch, we skipped the lunch special and ordered the medium Uldong Bossam to get the full experience🐷

Order bossam and it's not just bossam — you get a whole spread!

Sesame grinder and soy sauce on the table

The sesame grinder you often see at pork cutlet places. Grind the sesame yourself, then pour in the soy sauce. I never thought it was strange dipping bossam in soy sauce, but the friend I went with said it was new to them haha.

Two cuts of pork with radish kimchi and minari

Uldong Bossam's pork comes in two different cuts, including hangjeongsal (pork jowl), so it's fun picking through them. Each cut has a different texture, so switching between them was great.

And the radish kimchi here is seriously addictive🔥 I kept grabbing it with the bossam nonstop haha, tasted like something I'd want to take home haha. They also served fragrant minari alongside, and eating it with the bossam was such a great pairing🩵 If you're hunting for a good bossam place, this combo is a must-try.

The doenjang jjigae that came with it was also packed with ingredients🔥 Big chunks of zucchini, tofu, onion, and even meat, so perfect with rice haha. Eat a bite of bossam, then a spoonful of hot doenjang jjigae — ugh, the rice just disappears🐷🍚

With such a full spread, mixing and matching everything made us so happy

Side dishes trimmed down to the perilla leaf stems

And take a look at how they trimmed the perilla leaf stems here haha. A lot of places don't bother trimming even the garlic or vegetable stems one by one, but here you could tell they cared even about these tiny details.

Halfway through eating I thought, 'Oh, I definitely have to write this in the review!!!' haha

The taste of the food matters, of course, but sensing the owner's care in these small details made me like it even more

Is the medium Uldong Bossam enough for two people?

The medium Uldong Bossam really had a generous portion haha🐷🔥 I thought it was over once we ate the pork on top, but underneath there was a whole pile of evenly sliced bossam. They weren't kidding about the portion size haha. Eating it between the two of us, we ended up fully, satisfyingly full — the amount really delivered✨

Final verdict on Uldong Bossam in Jung-gu, Daegu

A proper win for the first meal of our Daegu trip — Uldong Bossam, a Gyodong-dong, Daegu bossam favorite❤️✨ You get two cuts of pork, a generous portion, and that radish kimchi and minari combo was just so good. Above all, feeling the care in small details like trimmed vegetables made it even more satisfying. With its hip, clean atmosphere, it's great for both lunch and evening drinks — if you're looking for a Daegu Station or Gyodong-dong, Daegu restaurant, this is a place I'd want to visit again🐷✨
